A docking station is basically like a big ol peice of equipment that the laptop "docks" into while closed. You plug your regular monitor, mouse and keyboard into the docking station and you literally use your laptop as a regular desk top model, just with a better monitor and keyboard. Not to mention I hate using laptop mouses.

While there I'm going to pick their brain about how I can save all my stuff in a zip drive sorta thing. That way if anything ever crashes again I don't have to stress, it'll all be there in another form.

Thanks. I guess what our concern will be is that we have a main computer with a lot of memory which a lap top isn't going to have? I'm so clueless....

How fun, winning concert tickets and getting a new computer! Yay you!

Hubby loves classic rock....loud....and repeats the songs over and over, so my boys grew up on 70s music for the most part. I remember thinking it was strange when my older one wrote on a school paper in something like third grade that his favorite songs were "Godzilla" and "Don't Fear the Reaper."

Heehee, my DS has an intro to 70s rock still coming. DH is a huge Led Zepplin fan. He currently plays in a blues kinda sorta band and DS knows a few of the songs they do very well. Nothing any of his classmates have EVER heard!

We ended up getting another "tower". The geek squad geek said to find out what was wrong with our computer meant sending it out for testing which could cost us anywhere from $100 - $500.

A new tower was anywhere from $300 - $500, so we figured what the hey. Why pay to fix something when it's prolly just going to break again down the road?

We looked at lap tops, but there was a few factors we really didn't think about. 1 - the memory is smaller. Not that it would make a huge difference to us, but IF the lap top lasted a long time we'd start running into the problems we had with our old computer. 2 - it is much harder to replace parts in a lap top as opposed to a tower. If something breaks in the tower, the geeks can just take it a part, find the broken peice and replace it. In a lap top almost everything is cemented together (for my technical terms anyway). 3 - we'd have to buy a wireless router and pay to have them come out to make sure it all works correctly.

So we stayed with what we were used to and figured that if my soap business takes off or if he goes off on his own (he has the ability to work for himself if he wants to) we can just get a lap top then, buy a wireless router and hook up the desk top to the wireless.

Since I didn't get what I wanted, I bought a new digital camera. It was on clearance so I got this nice one for 50% off. Can't complain there!

Still no babies from Opi. Man, I feel for her. She's just huge. Now her teats are filling up a bit...

I've also noticed that Nilly, my nigerian/alpline, is being exceptionally nice lately. So I loved up on her, felt for an udder, but there wasn't one. I put my hands on her sides and gave her a hug and felt some thumps against my left hand, which was on her right side. Babies!

My laptop has 500 gigs of memory and 4 g RAM - they are way better than they used to be.

Poor Opi! Hope for kids for you soon.

I think the tower has like 1000g of memory and is a 4 g too.

Who the heck knows - it was all geek to me. All I know is I left it there so the geeks could set it up and make a restoration CD for $100. Now I'm just waiting on the call saying to pick it up so I can get it home.

I don't know whether to me mad or worried.

Big G called me this morning saying "I think I'm going to the hospital".

He said he reached up for something then got this sharp pain in his chest. I asked him "like, heart attack pain (as if he'd know) or like pulled muscle pain" and he didn't know.

I told him to get a ride to the ER immediately - he's very bad about his health and has high blood pressure. If he actually took care of himself I would have said to wait a minute, but since he doesn't I told him to get to the ER NOW.

So his friend gave him a ride & he's now waiting for them to give him an xray. I'm debating on going there, but since he's alert and not having problems breathing I'm trying to sit and wait.
