Lovin' The Homestead
Morning report - not good
She won't get up. Won't eat or drink. I've shoved so many needles in her it's rediculous.
I'm going to either bring her to the vet or have the vet out and look at her. She's not bleeding from her nose as much but she's very lathargic. I gave her the pain meds, B12 and the calcium fluids and tried to drench her with some electrolytes but so far she just lays there.
Her buckling is doing very well. He's taken to his bottle now and what's great is that it's just one of little g's old baby bottles so I didn't have to go out and buy anything for that. I have milk frozen so I'm just going to bottle feed; now I'm torn about whether or not to keep him. I really don't want a bottle kid but I really want him around in the event we loose Cara, which at this moment looks like a possibility.
ETA - I realize I didn't answer your questions, katie and SD. The vet stiched her vagina with, well, basically a shoe lace. She was going to use the regular suture thread but thought Cara would tip through that in a hearbeat so she used some surgical shoe lace. Not pretty by any means. I asked why she thought this happened and she said the majority of the problem is genetics. If one or both parents have that gene and it's the right time it just happens. That coupled with the fact this buckling is huge created a disaster.
I'm beating myself up because I keep thinking if I had only had the monitor on I might have caught her in labor and maybe helped a little more.
