I love the water and I love critters, but I just can't combine the two.
I am a huge, giant wuss about water where I can't see the bottom.

The *worst* part about swimming along and seeing a snake?
When he decides to DIVE rather than swimming along the surface where I can keep an eye on him and go about my business.
That happened to me once with a water moccasin.
That was the day I found out that I can levitate, if given the proper motivation.

I'm the one who picks up a wild (nonvenomous) snake so I can show friends that they are not to be feared, and are really pretty cool.

A moccasin swimming by me, though...that's a different animal altogether.

And those electric skates that come in close to the shore at certain times of year? Aaagh!

I had one of those water moccasin too close encounters as a kid. I grew up swimming in Lake of the Ozarks which is a huge lake in southern Missouri, so I was used to being bumped by a fish every now and then or getting nibbled by a perch. On this occasion I felt a "fish" bump me a couple of times before I surfaced and came face to face with the snake. No I can not levitate like you did, but if we had a stop watch I am sure some Olympic record was broken on my way to the dock!

I just learned to swim two years ago. My SO taught me. I'm no fish, but I can swim enough to save my life. There is a bike I want, but it's 200$. It's a three wheel with a big basket in the back in between the back wheels. It would great for shopping or foraging! I that would get my fat butt outside doing some exercise! Mabey I should settle for a cheap bike and a backpack?

I couldn't imagine not swimming, you can ALWAYS find me near water, even at work! I'm currently at the lake, its getting hot (at 8am) and time for me and the lab to go cool off.

I loved to play with snakes too until I got bit by a water moccasin. Now I never want to see another snake as long as I live!!
