I had to turn on the heat last night. It killed me to do it.

Set the heat at 65. Yup, it kicked on....I live in the SOUTH for heavens sake. Never have I put on the heat this early. It is chilly and cold with this rain......OH BOY it ticked me off big time.

LOL

I got to get out the warm footies now, the warm feetie PJs for Nicole, a sweater for me and all that mess! And then watch, back up to 79.

:he I just didn't want to start the heat yet and I had too. Just not right, not right, not right. Got to get my propane fireplace dusted. LOL....and ready to go.

I feel pushed into winter time coming. I don't like that one bit but I have no say in the matter so I do this :he
Yea, it hurts.

OK--who else has to heat now?
You can rant with me!
:tongue to winter and the COLD!!

We are in the 30s and 40s here. We are getting rain and the forecast calls for that to be mixed with snow tonight. :p

But it is between 50 and 60 in the house, so we have not turned on the heat yet. We have used a space heater to warm up the bathroom in the morning for showers.

We are wearing our long-sleeved shirts under sweaters and sweat shirts.

We are using bed warmers to take the chill out of bed before hoping in at night. :D

We haven't had to turn the heat on yet.

Probably will this weekend since it's supposed to be in the low 40s.

i KNOW!!! me too! i'm so mad mad mad booo cold!!!

but we made a fire in the wood stove last nite and oohhh... it was heavenly.....

we are cold and wet - they took snow off the menu for southern ohio but out here away from the cities we might actually get some. in that case you'll be hearing the screaming (from me). all i can think about is how last year we were hot until november!!!

we hauled 20 bails of straw yesterday and made in 'igloo' around our setting turkey hen and really insulated the rest of the poultry and the pigs. not even i couldnt even let them stupid pigs out in the cold and rain... i hates them, but not that much. this morning they looked like little angels snuggled all in the straw!

but its a nice day or ducks, huh? our geese are lovin' the puddles and are happy as clams.

ready for winter? not even remotely - i still have my shorts hanging up ready to wear!! i am putting the heated mattress warmer on the bed today. i guess i'll be able to find all the house cats for the rest of the winter! we leave it on for them and they are all there in little cat puddles....

time to batten down the poultry, gals... there's no wishing this cold away.

I turned on the heat a week ago Monday. It goes on at 6 am, to 68, then goes down to 62 at 9 am. It's down until 5 pm, when it goes back up to 68, then down to 62 at 10 pm. We had to fill the tank, we had let it go down to zero so we could switch the tank out this past spring, but a lack of $$ meant we couldn't cough up the $2100 to make it happen - that tank was put in in 1958, I'm afraid of it, hopefully it'll last another season. $457 to fill it at $2.069 COD :( We usually go through 2 1/2 tanks per winter.

I just can't take 50 indoors. My bones don't move when I'm that cold.

We started making fires in our woodstove last weekend. We probably could have started earlier, but I wanted to make sure it got dusted really well first. You know how nasty it smells when you first light it up, even if you dust it first . . . all that burning dust. :sick

We try to hold off as long as we can, and this year we got about a week further along than last year, but then we got hit with a cold spell.

It is so nice to have the long nights with radiant heat. :D

Oh I am sorry for all you folks in cooler climates! We have a ways to go...first we will start to use the fake gas fireplace, which is a stupid invention but it does add a little warmth. I like to hold out as long as possible. We'll see. I am hoping late November.

LOL Just don't tell my cats about this heated mattress warmer contraption, or I won't hear the end of it! ;)

The temperature here has also been 10+ degrees cooler than normal plus the fact that the sun hasn't been out for a week that the house doesn't warm up during the day and the 50,000 pound heat mass doesn't radiate back at night but just keeps getting cooler instead.

It has been about 63F in the house lately and will have to get much cooler before I even think about turning on some heat. I thought for sure when I took out my window air conditioners earlier this month it would get back up to 80F, me thinks my ex must be nearby.
