How high are your ceilings? Can you build a shelf around the top of any rooms (all 4 sides, or maybe only one or two), and hang a curtain in front so that it it looks pretty? Jars are heavy, so if you build those shelves you might want to put lighter things on them, to free up space for the jars closer to the floor.

Do your kitchen cabinets go all the way to the ceiling? If not, you could put stuff up there.

Haha, real funny Tankshill! :p

OR - we live in a trailer, and it has a bit of a peaked ceiling to give it more height, however, the ceiling is actually lower than standard along the wall. The point where the ceiling meets the wall is only 4" above the door. This house is NUTS.

Deb - no they don't, and there is a LITTLE space left up there... half of it is already filled up with crap! Wine bottles, basket with picnic/paper supplies, my big 2 gal glass jar that I use to strain yogurt to make cream cheese/whey, a couple empty tins, the popcorn maker, extra egg cartons that we give back to folks that have chickens, the extra dog food containers..... :-/

All the under beds are stuffed, the couch is half stuffed, the back of the kitchen cabinet is stuffed.... We have a LOT of crap! LOL

In that case I see no alternative - you will HAVE to let Tankshill store them for you - or, if that doesn't appeal, you could send them to me!

Yall think you're sooooooooo funny don't you!!!! LOL
I'd only take you up on the offer, if you allow me to store ALL my stuff, including me and the other half and the two dogs, and the two chinchillas and the one ton of horse at your house!!!

Can you use a few end tables? If so stack a few boxes next to a chair cover with a pretty cloth and call it done. Have also made a desk before by stacking two stacks spaced chair width apart to support a board that serves as desktop. A pain when you want to use them but when space is tight you do what you have to. Otherwise now go look for some free pallets or wood and build a storage shed outside.

On another note, I'd keep the old lids. I use them for dry goods storage, vaccume sealing the jars, for left overs in the fridge, or just putting back on empty jars that are stored outside to keep out the bugs and uckies. In a pinch I have even used them for canning and I know some I have gotten were over10 years old. I've switched to the tattler reusable lids and sometimes kinda miss having a lot f those metal ones around. They make good outdoor plant labels and wind chimes too.

Thanks for the suggestions, Justme! Good things to know.

We, unfortunately, don't have much of anywhere to put anything else furniture wise. :-/ We've kind of stuffed this house pretty full. Its not very big, and I have a tendency to stuff things anyway!

We'll figure it out eventually.... LOL Hopefully soon cause tripping over the boxes in the kitchen is getting old!
