My sick Aussie is out barking his head off at the German shepherds next door. He hasn't done that in days. Even more like himself after two doses of antibiotics!
Quick answer, from a newbie, it is using a GPS device (not the kind you use in the car)to follow coordinates to find hidden boxes that you can sign in to. SOmetimes there are little trinkets and you can take one and leave on of your own.Quail_Antwerp said:OK, dumb question here, what is geocaching?
I am totally amazed every single day the things I learn from the 3 little forums that I read! I have never ever heard of either of these 2 things and seems hundreds of thousand of people do them every day. I really need to burst this little bubble I live in. Actually, I guess I have just by getting on here and meeting people and finding out what is out there outside of my little world.Henrietta23 said:Quick answer, from a newbie, it is using a GPS device (not the kind you use in the car)to follow coordinates to find hidden boxes that you can sign in to. letterboxing also involves finding hidden boxes but without the high tech. gear. You may need a compass. In letterboxing you have a stamp that you stamp into the boxes logbook. The box has a stamp that you log into your own log book. www.letterboxing.org or www.atlasquest.com
They're both lots of fun. There are lots of types of boxes to choose from, ones you can get in a few minutes or some that take days to decipher the riddle clues to! Hikes of a half hour or many hours...Georgiagirl said:I am totally amazed every single day the things I learn from the 3 little forums that I read! These things are amazing and look like so much fun. I am sure there is so much more to it than just finding a "treasure". But what fun family vacations, such adventure. I'm jealous!
