Loved the pics. You have a pretty place.

Did I see Highland cattle? It looked like it. That pic would be good ammo in my attempt to get a place in the countryside. He loves Highlands.
I don't care about having cattle, but wouldn't mind if it got me the rest of what I want. (chickens, and goats, and a few sheepies, and big garden and . . . more critters.

Wish it was my place!! It's actually Old Sturbridge Village in MA.
I am not sure what breed the cattle are. I have a friend who has Highlands and they are hairier than these. I'm sure they're a heritage breed. I'm trying to find it on their website.

Thanks. I hope to be able to go back in 2 weeks and see the orchard in full bloom. I always try but never quite make it!

I believe the cattle breed in the pictures is the Red Devon. It is one of the oldest cattle breeds raised in the United States AND the breed of cattle that my friend has for his oxen team.

I lived in New England for most of my life and never made it to Sturbridge. I could kick myself now that it is 7 hours away.

Actually I will be visiting a friend in Burlington the weekend of May 15th. I don't think we will make it up to Sturbridge, though. I wish I could stay more than a weekend.
