Home Depot is 2 miles from house. Lowes is 20.4. Some stuff we will get at HD but if it's something big we'll go the extra miles to Lowes for the customer service. We bought our gas grill there last year and they were great about it AND there was nothing wrong with it. Also, we did a lot of research on dishwashers and chose one that two friends have bought within the last 6 months. Fussy fussy people. They are very pleased so we got the same one, just had to special order it in white. It's a Kitchenaid. I can't remember ever owning a Maytag appliance. I'm sure in the end it will be okay.
I'm just whiney.
One more regular Monday to go!! Cub Scouts and baseball again tonight. DS chose baseball. I will be at the Pack Meeting. Oh well, he plays again on Wednesday. He's having a blast and improving quite a bit.
Cross your fingers on the blueberries. I killed last year's bush which I had in a container. I thought I had winter proofed but the puppy gnawed on it a bit and well......
Oooooo, if I could find a currant bush......
Hoping to make the WF trip tomorrow to pick up a few things.

Mini-vent, DS's teacher didn't send home his behavior goal chart today. I have no idea how his day was. How is this system supposed to work if she doesn't hold up her end? I know she was out for a week. It shouldn't have taken more than three seconds.

We are getting twin Saanen/Oberhasli crosses from our vet. Brother who will be a whether and sister. They should be weaned next weekend. I'm waiting for the vet to call with the bring home date. He was on vacation this week. We were also going to look at Nubians at the farm where Free got her Ginger but I haven't had luck keeping in touch with the owner so that's in complete limbo. I've contacted someone else in MA about a Saanen in milk she has for sale. She's busy too so I'm struggling to be patient. I'd love to start milking this summer but will wait if we don't find the right doe. I've been buying raw cows' milk for about $4.35 a half gallon. Raw goats' milk is going for $9.49 a half gallon as of today.
I can't wait to make more cheese!!!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! The fence isn't up, the wall isn't built, he told me they wouldn't be weaned until Memorial Day weekend. I don't know if the little buckling has been whethered. Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!
Okay, breathe, he left a message. I wasn't home to ask questions. He did say they've had their vaccinations and he's put together paperwork telling me what he's feeding them, etc. If we start the fence tomorrow, have a game on Wednesday but then no more until June 1st there's a chance we can get it done before the weekend is over. Nothing like pressure and deadlines to get the job done, right? I don't think he's in such a hurry that he can't wait for us to be ready. I just don't want to wait another minute longer than I have too.
I need hay, I need grain, oh jeez, what else do I need. oxygen, oxygen would be good.........:weee

Breathe, girl, breathe.....once you start the fence, it will go up quickly. You can even make a smaller area right outside the barn door, with a gate, that leads into the bigger area if you'd like. The wall is a simple thing that will also go up quickly once started.

Hay and grain are not a big deal. You can pick up a single bale of hay at almost any feed store, and put a lawn and leaf bag over each end. I transport hay sometimes in the back seat of my car this way! And you can get bagged shavings, and a bale of straw if you'd like. You need less bedding when it is hot, anyways, they like to sleep on the ground to keep cool. That will keep you for at least a week or two, maybe more.

All that stuff can be picked up in one trip to the feed store. You can even skip the grain for a few days and no one will starve.

:hugs

Oh, and make him keep them for a week after he wethers the boy anyways. You don't need to deal with that. Let him be well-healed before you add the stress of a big move.

Yeah, I have to call him back tomorrow to find out the status there. I mean, he was the one who suggested he'd do it. I can't and won't have a buck here. :sick If I wasn't going to take him he was going to freezer camp. He was thrilled when I said I'd take him as a wether. I'm so worked up I'm forgetting how to spell wether....
Gate, okay we need a gate. It may very well be temporary and the fence isn't going to be huge anyway, at least not for this year. I've got 3/4 of a bale of straw in the shed and I pick it up in my station wagon all the time so no problem there. The guy DH goes to for small engine parts sells hay. I drove by there the other day and noticed he has a sign up for it. I'll have DH call and see what they've got. Super easy for him to swing by after school with the truck and pick up a few bales. Ugh, now I really need to clean out that shed. Look out Whacko Squirrel, I've got goats comin'!!!

Also remember at this point they are still small. So if your divider in the barn isn't done, it might still be high enough for now to contain them. Mine are 8 weeks old and they can jump up onto our chickpen which is about 4 feet high (I think they used the bundles of broomcorn stalks to get up there though), but they haven't jumped onto the roof of their shed yet that is not quite 5 feet high.
And they really won't need all that much room yet. And one of mine can jump higher than the other. I assume that is because they have different sires. One is also bigger than the other.

So don't panic. Just breathe. I can hardly wait for you to get your goat snuggles

True, true. We can just do the lower wall for now, except that won't keep the chickens out. I think I need to go make a checklist....
