Thanks everyone!
The destemming was something! I used a fork which helped. The currants were not easy to find around here either. They're still illegal in several New England states. Luckily CT is not one. We were almost in RI when we picked anyway!
I was so happy to find that hat last week at the Eddie Bauer outlet. I have a HUGE head and can rarely find a hat that fits, especially a woman's hat! It drives me nuts.

Thomas lost the bigger of his two little horns that were trying to regrow!! Yay! No blood either, it's just gone. He still has a nasty scab from where it bled last week but that seems to be healing nicely. There's another littler horn regrowing on the other side but now I'm hopeful he'll knock that off too. :fl

Thanks for sharing the pictures. Just beautiful!! Glad you had fun. those berries are yummy looking. I think I can honestly say I don't think I have ever had a current. :idunno

By the way I love the vintage Pyrex. I have managed to collect several pieces. I found another yellow bowl at the Goodwill the other day. :clap

Thanks Gina! We started with the blue pyrex bowl which my Granpa ate his corn flakes in for decades with the silver spoon he'd had since his childhood. He was born in 1906! Then we collected the other pieces at flea markets and tag sales. The tough one was the red one. We finally found it at the Brimfield Antiques show in MA about 10 years ago! Paid waaaaaay more than we had for any of the others just to complete the set. I also have some of the white pieces with the blue roosters and Amish looking folks. And some Fire King green pieces and some pink ones with berries....
It's a bit of an addiction kept in control by my small kitchen! ;)
The currants have a nice flavor. Tart. I like the red ones but not the black. Never had a white one.
We're going to Brimfield in two weeks. DS will be at camp and DH took the whole week off to work around the house. We'll take one day to go up and look around. DS would enjoy it but burn out before we're ready and want to look at completely different things than us so the timing is ideal! Plus I need to keep from going crazy missing DS.... his first time away for more than a night at Grandma and Papa's...

 We are so lucky to live close to such a beautiful area! And the weather was ideal. Still is today. Heat wave coming though. Better enjoy it while I can!

Plans so far:
Make currant jelly with the 7 cups of juice I got from the berries I picked.
Make chevre.
Make deviled eggs for the 2 parties we are invited to today. We were already at one last night, complete with fireworks.
Clean goat stall.
Set up altar for church tomorrow.
Feed friends' cats and water plants.
Church in the am tomorrow.
Leave immediately after church for the parade. DS and I march with Cub Scouts. DH marches with his hovercraft team. They will "fly" a craft down Main Street.
Make more deviled eggs for the party we are invited to tomorrow evening.
Monday: um, I've lost track of what's going on.... we might actually have no where to be???
We're going to be experiencing a heat wave next week. NOT looking forward to that!

Sounds like a recipe for a happy 4th! Hovercrafting down Main street... that would be fun!
