Not hopping across their LR floor at whatever late hour it was. :barnie

Headed to the Boy Scout camp in a bit just for a visit. DH was asked to bring the hovercraft for a demo. He did it last year too. A fellow teacher is very involved with his son and the scouts. It's about 99 degrees out already. Too hot to do much at all.
I did get the barn cleaned out. Freshened everyone's food and water. Cut a bunch of maple branches for the goats. Found the new duck nest. It is under some firewood and not near the fence any longer. I may leave it for a bit and see what happens.
I raked all spilled hay away from the outside of the fence. Thomas keeps sticking his head through and then can't get back out. Then Donki head butts him as he sits there screaming. I don't dare leave the house for too long. Hopefully this will help.

I'm a little surprised it didn't occur to any of us that DS just might have been involved in how Mr. or Mrs. Toad came to be hopping across my living room floor at 11 last night. I mentioned it to him in the car this afternoon and his response was, "OH!!! You found Hoppy!" "excuse me?" "Yeah, I caught him and put him in my room to be my friend." (Lay on the only child, I have no friends nearby, summer guilt trip kid, thanks.....) "Um, honey, what did you think he was going to eat?" "I don't know." (He probably got a spider or two and we do have lots of flies lately...) "Honey, when exactly did you put him in your room? Yesterday?" "No, not yesterday, a couple of days ago."
At that point I didn't know whether to scream, cry or laugh, so I laughed.
I think I now also know why the cat was foaming at the mouth the other night. Must have been hassling Mr. or Mrs. Toad....
The cat is fine.

My thermometer said 110 this afternoon and I believed it! It was brutal out there. I moved in slow-mo and still sweated like a....er...pigs don't sweat......

The one in our breezeway hit 118 when the sun was directly on it. It certainly wasn't really that hot but it sure felt it!

We went to Cabela's and Whole Foods.
After spending over an hour in a shade free field watching DH and a Boy Scout fly their hovercrafts I was drenched. I hate it when it gets like this. Now I'm feeling guilty that we didn't keep the toad inside!

Ha Ha! I laughed when I read the story about the toad. I wondered also how he got inside, but you know those little ones are great for bringing in anything. At least mine are.

This was a first. He was read the riot act about EVER bringing in a snake. I'm not kidding. He pulls a stunt like that and I'm outta there! :old

I feel for you guys!! I am sure my turn is coming. We usually get ours in Aug early Sept. Just in time for the kids to go back to school.

None so far. I'm really concerned about the snake he found on the front porch. Waaaay to easy for him to find again. He is a sweet boy who knows how much I hate snakes. Hopefully that will be enough to deter him from bringing that in!
He's brought in frogs and chickens to visit. Mr. Hoppy was the first he expected to have stay.

DH is getting invitations to join AARP. I would tease him but I am not that far behind.....anyways, he brought the baby goat in, then claimed he didn't. I was standing right there. Boys will be boys!

The big difference here is that I WANTED the baby goat to come into the house but didn't bring her in because I do so many other naughty things around here.....like sneaking goats home in the back seat of the car..... :D
