Hmmmm, several local schools are closed again tomorrow????? C'mon! We're going to be in school straight through June 30 with no February or April breaks at this rate! Crossing my fingers we have nothing more than a delay! I can't afford this anymore!
Problem is we got some moisture and the temps won't be above freezing tomorrow so the roads will be icy on top of all the snow the buses have to navigate around. Oh and the roofs falling down in several schools have everyone on edge.
I'm so close to saying I don't like winter anymore. so close......
I've got almost a full cuff done on sock #2 and haven't run out of the yarn yet. I'm betting I can get to the heel flap before I don and I'll be able to wear the socks with my favorite kiltie boots and only I will know the truth!!!

We have a snow day again tomorrow as well. Our side streets are still a huge mess and it has been so cold there has been no melting.

Sounds a lot like here. But this week schools are staying closed mostly because of concerns over those roofs. (Why are more than one hoof called hooves, but more than one roof are roofs???)
We have a 90 minute delay today. Of course I was already in the shower by the time the call came so no extra sleep. I will do the morning chores then sit and knit a bit.
I need to email my brother. Either his apartment complex or the one next to it was evacuated yesterday because of concern over the roof. It was cleared and deemed safe later on though. I'm worried about DS's old school. Heck, I'm worried about MY school!! I hope they've spent some time checking and clearing them.

Rain tomorrow. But temps just below freezing. Glad I don't have to be anywhere! Should be a mess out there....
DH had another day off today because of concern over the snow load on the school roofs.

National Guard Shovels Tolland School Roofs
Massive Mounds of Snow Removed from Schools

POSTED: 5:13 pm EST February 4, 2011
UPDATED: 5:33 pm EST February 4, 2011

TOLLAND, Conn. -- The town called in the National Guard to help shovel snow off the roof of the high and middle school.

School was in session Thursday, but engineers determined later in the day that all the school roofs needed to be cleared before classes could resume.

"Based on the fact that we're having a possible event tomorrow, we thought we had about 24 hours to try to reduce the load to a point that was safe," said Town Manager Steve Werbner.

Col/ Frank Detorie, of the Air National Guard, said the snow drifts in some places were as high as five feet.

Werbner said the clean up will cost the town about $20,000.

I am part way through the heel flap of my second sock without any help!! I hope to be able to wear them before the weekend is over!!
More on that later.....

Haha! I will be wearing my socks with my black Keen mary janes to church tomorrow!!!! I did have to use some solid black sock yarn to finish the toe but it isn't going to show. I am so excited!! There's no stopping me now... And now I have some nice warm black wool blend sock yarn to make DS school socks.

It rained today making the piles of snow nice soupy sponges and the paths nice and slick. I did manage to get down to the barn in one piece by placing my feet at the outside edges of the path to catch looser snow. Not fun. It's going to be one messy spring! More snow expected this week but they can't tell us for sure how much will be coming. Hopefully just showers and not enough to keep us home. We've had 6 snow days and DH has had 9. I'm hoping they spent some time clearing the roofs off our towns schools so we don't end up like so many others being closed or evacuated because of concerns.
