A very very good and close friend of mine works at Natchaug. She's been there for, gosh, over 10 years now I guess. If you need a contact name or anything like that let me know! I know she works with the little kids right now doing groups and such. She's had so many different positions there it's amazing.

I hope today is better for you!

Thanks! Don't need a contact now but who knows. I was "this close" to actually registering to take the exam in July today. I did set up an account so that when I feel like I have $80 to blow I can do it. That will put the pressure on to go for it.
School was fine today overall. Kids were just weird though. My third graders were like beings from another planet. Very spacey, irrelevant conversation, disruptive behaviors. And that was in a group of two. They've had a rough year. Their teacher has cancer and retired suddenly because her treatment is exhausting. She's been in and out of the hospital since Christmas with pneumonia. It's very scary. And the kids pick up on a lot of it. They have a new, young teacher who seems very nice, but she isn't the dynamo that their original teacher is. Tough adjustment. One of my boys in that class was in a different school in 1st grade. His teacher died in a motorcycle crash that year. I can't imagine how tough that must have been!! My 1st and 2nd grade teachers both got pregnant and left midyear. That was traumatizing enough to me.
All these snow days mean that they haven't had a routine for a while. This week is likely to be the first 5 day week we've had since before Christmas!
I'm going knitting Friday night! Our local yarn shop is having an event called "What Would Miss Marple Knit" My friend is going to be reading from Agatha Christie's Murder at the Vicarage (funny, since she is married to our priest and lives in the vicarage with him!) Not exactly a hot night on the town, huh? But I'm looking forward to a night out without the boys as much as I love them.
No plans for Valentine's Day. Haven't even thought about it. We've always made a heart shaped pizza in the past. Not sure what to do in place of that now that two of us are GF. And we have Cub Scouts that night.
Eh, I'm rambling. DH is at band rehearsal. Oh, I had a scare. One of his former students from his old school called here. Very unusual. They sometimes email but this boy's father died on Christmas day and DH has heard rumors that the student has been struggling a bit since. When he called and I told him DH was out for the evening he sounded really dejected and I got a little freaked out. I gave him DH's cell # and told him to at least try and hopefully he'd hear the phone ring. Well, DH figured out I was probably worried and called in a few minutes to tell me the student is receiving an award and can invite two people. Since his dad passed he wants DH to go in his place! So I ended up sobbing anyway, but luckily NOT because the kid was in any danger or distress.
I think I need to crash. It's been two full work days in a row. I haven't done that in three weeks???

:hugs to that boy and prayers :fl
Thanks BB. They all could use some prayers. It's been a rough winter. One of our 4th grade teachers lost her husband last week after a brief illness. She lost her father in the fall and her mother isn't well. I guess the whole school could use some prayer!

I made GF pizza with Bob's Red Mill pizza crust mix the other day. I added some herbs and garlic to the dough and it turned out yummy. I pressed the goopy dough into place on the pizza pan with a piece of parchment paper over the top and then pre- baked for about 10 minutes before topping with sauce and fixings.

Pizza can still be on the menu!

Well, if gluten were the only issue.... we'll figure something out. Maybe I'll dig the grill out from under the snow and get some really nice steaks! I plan on trying a coconut flour cake recipe I found. I haven't had cake in over a year!
On the GF pizza note: I buy GF bread mixes on line from Breads From Anna in Iowa. They are corn, soy, rice, dairy and nut free, so safe for DS. They have a pizza mix coming out in about a month. DS is soooo excited to have pizza again! Goat's milk mozzarella and home made dairy free sauce.... mmm! Low carb or no, I'll take a slice of that!
