Well, they're back. The vet didn't find anything obvious on examination. He drew some blood and took a urine sample. Sent home some NSAIDS to add to the pain pills. He thinks Sunday's relapse may have been caused by too high a dose of the original pain killer. I stopped giving him a full dose anyway. Now he'll get half that plus the NSAID. He did give him his rabies shot so I guess he's got quite a bit of hope that nothing is imminent. Kobi immediately went out in the yard and poooooooped! Then he came in looking for his dinner. so that's where we're at.
Thanks for your support and concern and hugs!

Hmm, good question! We both could use a little comforting at this point!

I doubt the vet would give a rabies shot if he thought there was anything serious going on.

Maybe things are just slowing down. Old bones creak and hurt and make you want to move less. Maybe he is just hitting his senior "style."

Glad to hear it wasn't "the worst"

It's hard, though, when it keeps going back and forward like this - I mean, he's good, he's bad, he's good, he's bad....so you plan for IT and IT doesn't happen so all you can do is make him as comfortable as possible for as long as you have to...

Could be. It just seemed so sudden. He aged a year in a week! But he has recovered some ground since last Tuesday. So :idunno We shall see. I just entered the check amount in and told myself how much we really do love this dog! He's worth it. Silly DH brought him straigth from the car to the house and the poor dog is getting all freaked out. DH thinks he's having another episode. Nope, he's gotta poop and he's soooooo housebroken that he's desperately trying to get to the door because he would die of shame before having an accident in the house.
