Thanks, turns out the vet was at a conference. He called this afternoon. He wants to do his own exam and bloodwork.
I don't think it's just old age because of the rapid decline. This dog cleared a three foot baby gate two weeks ago.
His gums are black (they always have been. He has black spots on his tongue as well leading people to speculate Chow Chow heritage. The dog is so obviously lab/dberman it cracks me up!) Anyway, DH will bring him and we'll take it from there. I can't do 2 years of this. We had a pug that did the same thing. Kobi is not particularly enjoying life or I would. But you can tell he knows he's not "right". He's the same today as he has been, no better, no worse. :/
