Some people just LIVE with the TV on and it never goes off. Makes you wonder about the subliminal effects! :/

And what is that ... you don't start until SEPTEMBER!! :th

I know!! It's like the "old days" when I was in school. We always started the Wednesday or Thursday after Labor Day. It would be really great if we started the last week in August, had a 4 day weekend in February, one or two snow days instead of 6 and got out around June 8th.

How did they do it when we were in school?

We ALWAYS started after Labor Day and were out before Memorial Day.

I also remember a nice long Christmas break, and being out Good Friday and a plus few extra days around Easter. I just don't get it. :hu

Me either! And we used to get quite a bit of snow too. I think we must have routinely gone well into June. I don't know when the 180 day law went into effect. Maybe that had something to do with it?

I know for a FACT that we never were in school in June here, because my birthday is in early June and I almost always spent my birthday at the lake with my grandparents.

Several years ago I spent my first birthday in school, because we were still not out yet and it made me hoppin' mad. :tongue

Back to the living with the TV on comment. That's exactly what it is! It's always on! And I'm sure this lady runs out to Walmart for the latest As Seen On TV product that she's sure she can't live without!!

I have come to the firm belief that some people are actually AFRAID of the dark and afraid of simple quiet. It is amazing how many people always have a radio blaring or TV on or some other noise constantly in their lives. A lot of these same people keep lights on in the house and outside constantly. Makes you wonder - are they are afraid to be alone with themselves?

It is a good point and in the lady's defense, she did just lose her husband last summer. But I have to say also that I can't remember ever being over there without noticing the TV was on so it must be an old habit. Well, there's a goal I'll set myself, not to be so bored with my husband and life that I need the Newly Wed Game blaring constantly....
We have dropped the Golden at the vet to be neutered. I'm a little shaky. It's a gray chilly day, threatening rain. I'd love to take DS hiking on a newly opened trail near us but I'm not sure about cell service. DS's riding instructor also emailed late last night to ask if we were interested in doing a trail ride this morning. I told her I'd check in this morning but haven't heard anything.

So last year I went currant picking with a friend and made jar upon jar of of red currant jelly. Yum! I found a red currant bush on sale at a local nursery at the end of the season and bought it. And forgot to plant it. Figure it was a goner but I was clearing off the deck yesterday and found it in a corner covered in little green leaflets!! :bun Now to find a good safe place to plant it!
