18!! Boring day because I have a light schedule anyway and the third grade was gone on a field trip. I did get a lot of end of year things done for the kids I did see. Had an uncooperative kindergartener that I actually had to bring back to class. Sometimes I can work around the stubborness that goes with his condition but I'd been given a heads up about a particular issue and sure enough he pulled the same cr*p with me. So I told him what I expected and what the consequence would be, in very simple terms. He didn't do it. I reminded him. He still didn't do it. So I gathered his stuff and said, Let's go back to class. He started crying and pleading. Which I'm thinking gets him his way at home. A lot. He doesn't speak so this is how he gets what he wants I guess. I reminded him why we were leaving and he wouldn't budge. It wasn't until I picked up the phone and actually called the office for someone to come remove him that he realized I wasn't bluffing and went. I followed and we had a chat with him, with his para explaining very clearly in Spanish. He does understand a lot of English although he's in the Spanish K class. But having it reinforced in his first language will help him understand he can't manipulate me like that. We left at, we'll try again tomorrow. The afternoon started with a fire drill which was good since we actually saw some sunshine.
The sunshine continued and the predicted thunderstorms missed so DS got his riding lesson in after a dentist appointment.

Physical at the MD's office. First in three years. I saw the Nurse Practioner who is very down to earth. She was fine with the naturopath and me stopping all meds. Even a little curious when we talked about my diet. She thought the fermented food was really interesting. They all thought it was pretty funny that I was there mostly because I needed a physical for Boy Scout camp! I could have done without the one hour wait! They called to confirm the appointment yesterday and asked that I come in early to fill out paperwork. Well, I stood at the window for 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. Then I waited 50 minutes in a chair next to a woman who did not stop talking the entire time and boy did she find herself amusing. Then I was brought back and weighed etc. Then I had to get in a gown and sit on the table for 20 more minutes. Ugh.
Had student steal stickers from me today. Apparently this is a new things for her and we're all very concerned. Big meeting with Mom tomorrow. They may even call me in from the HS to be there since I was one of 2 people she stole from today. It was just stickers but the thing was I'd have given them to her if she'd asked. So it's more than just wanting the stickers.... and she was sneaky about it and lied to her Spec ed teacher about it. And threatened to hit two staff members when she got caught. Something is up in her world. So worried!
17 more days. The sun is out, it's hot, I don't want to go in! Naturopath for both of us tomorrow. Come on Friday!!!!

So hen....guess what we're doing with little g on Saturday night....

Going to a Boy Scout meeting! :D

We're trying a different approach rather than putting him in sports. He's really interested in all the farm and outdoor stuff, so we're going to give this a try and then 4H next year if he really likes it.

I know I'm excited! I think Big G would rather it be a sport, but I think when he sees how little g reacts he'll know it was a good thing!

Yay!!! What Pack number? If you can get him to Day Camp this summer do it! It's the best part. Even if he is just going in to Scouts he's elligible to go.

I keep forgetting to mention, I have a broody duck! Edna's been on a nest in the corner of the chicken side of the barn, behind the goat food cans. Last year the trio of Blue Swedish/runner duck crosses shared a nest behind the stone wall but nothing ever hatched. This year Edna's inside and on her own. I don't want more ducks so these will be sold if they hatch. Not sure how to keep ducklings safe in the chicken coop but I think I have time to sort that out before potential hatching occurs.

Dh just informed me that he found a dead chicken in the yard this morning, missing its head. Grrrr. It's the second time this week he's locked her out. Looks like the owl or whatever it was won this time. Now it will be back. I'm not sure if this hen was not going into the coop at night for a reason or what. He doesn't do a beak count like I do. I haven't figured out if it was a barnevelder or a Golden laced wyandotte. Neither were favorites but I hate to see a predator coming back for more....
It is beastly hot, in the 90s and I hate it! I had a major allergy attack at the end of the day. Left eye on fire with itching and sneezing fits, runny nose blech. Off to baseball OH YAY! After missing 4 games to the rain you'd think I'd be happier about it.

I so feel for you. That's why I had to move Roxi, and I really miss having chickens in my yard. :hugs

We're fixing the pen door tomorrow to keep them in. Hopefully they'll all go in early enough tonight that they won't be in harm's way before we get home from baseball. I'm more upset that DH cuts corners and puts animals at risk than anything. Nothing happens for months so he assumes everything is hunkey dory and then BAM. We've lost two chickens to exposure because he's done something like this. I'm glad my broody duck decided to be broody in the coop this year. She's probably safer than any of them these days. No sitting duck sitting ducks here! Unless the owl comes indoors. In which case I hope the goats on the other side of the scare it out....

I'm so sorry, Hen. :(

I feel for you. DH has a very lackadaisical (sp?) attitude as well. His favorite line is "don't worry about it." (Me: "Honey, the hardware cloth is loose on the corner of the pen." Him: "Oh, don't worry about it, nothing's gonna get in.") :smack

So sorry for your loss :(

I think husbands usually mean well, but they just don't have the eye/concern for detail that women do. Mine is great with most things, but forgets things if he isn't reminded. I feel like a huge nag, but he actually says that I have to remind him about things
