Went to hear the band play at Fred's, a local pizza place. This was their first gig since the guitar player died. Another friend from another band played in his spot. They sounded fine but Jim was missing. All his subtle touches were missing. The crowd had fun and man, was it a crowd! Someone was celebrating a birthday and had a huge table reserved. Everyone who's ever followed them showed up in support if they could. Sad, but a step toward healing.
No more losses in the coop but Butterscotch isn't well. She's one of my older red sex links. I don't what's up. She's alert but doesn't want to move. I checked her over and can't find any injuries. Something internal I suppose.
I peeked around Edna the broody duck. She's got a pile of eggs under there. I swear one is a brown chicken egg. That could get complicated! Guess I'd better have a brooder ready to go. I'm not sure when she started to sit so no idea when to expect any hatching. This will be a first for us. We've incubated once here and I did one other time at school. Never had a broody follow through.
Hitting the hay now and will be busy outside in the gorgeous weather getting the beds filled and planting things. My home grown tomato seedlings about to zilch unfortunately. Very disappointing but peppers, broccoli rabe, and cabbage all look good, if a little small. I supplemented with some things from the nursery today. It should still be a nice little garden. Pictures soon!
