I was a little weepy when DH left but I'll be fine once I know he's reached his destination. I hated when he used to take his students from here to Ohio for the national Hovercraft Rally. Three days on the road each way was a lot to worry about. These 2 weeks he'll be sitting in class and staying in a dorm. And DS is in capable hands at camp. So I really just need to chill out and do what needs to be done and enjoy the rest of the time relaxing!

So I've got my dinner cooking, beef tenderloin, carmalized onions and garlic, salad. There's a party going on next door. Lots of screaming little girls. I admit it. I miss my family! A lot. :hit I'm going to love my time alone but I still get to miss them right?
Dinner was delicious! I'm watching the news for coverage of our parade. CBS and Fox Connecticut affiliates were there. Mom, Dad and I were all interviewed for the Norwich Bulletin too!
Now to grab my book and sit and read for a bit. Sigh. And maybe get some video of bluebirds 'cause they're chowing on insects out there!

Don't worry Hen. I spent ONE NIGHT away from my DH (at a friends house), and I was totally lonely, gloomy/depressed, and completely missed having him at my side. It was weird to lie in a bed and not have him there. He said the same thing when I got back the next day.

It's not just you. :)

Thanks! Unfortunately not having DH in the bed means there's room for an extra dog! And it's about 90 degrees today. Thankfully he put the a/c unit in our window before he left. :love

Sounds like me a few years ago every time DH would leave for a week long job. Only I had to do it every. single. week. It never got easy :/ So, yes, you are still allowed to miss them ;)

I think I'm more bored than anything. It's hot. Blech. I should be cleaning or weeding or something but instead I'm just whining. And trying to get pictures of bluebirds which is proving to be very difficult!

Nothing wrong with missing the fam. I whine when it's hot too. :p I become a siesta person in the summer. Doing things in early morning late evening when it's cooler, and lazing about inside during the heat of midday.

Well crud. My fan just died. And a friend from church just called to say that the daughter of a friend of her mother's (yup, that's what she said) has an alpaca farm on the other side of the state and is looking to rehome a pair of her alpacas probably for free. :th That is what DH would do if he came home and found 2 alpaca here that weren't here when he left. I'm afraid we're full up and can't take her up on the offer. I have zero details but it sounds like she is just looking for them to go to a safe home where they won't be abused or slaughtered. :idunno Wish I could do it but it would be foolish at this point in our lives.

Oh this is rich! DH just called to say that the laptop he brought with him for this course, that was provided by his school, does NOT meet specifications that were sent ahead of him taking this class. He shared them with the school's IT guy and that guy gave him a laptop to bring along. DH was supposed to have all the programs etc. for the course downloaded onto it so he could begin classes tomorrow. Well, it's not going to work. And the IT guy retired last month. But DH has already emailed the new IT guy to ask what they want him to do. Hopefully the principal will be at school tomorrow and they can figure out what to do about this. Because we can't afford for DH to go out and buy one on his own and not be quaranteed reimbursement. We're going to be stretching every penny this summer as it is. As it is I may very well have to drive north to DH's school to pick it up and drive it south to the shoreline to drop off for him. And the school WILL be paying me mileage if I do that. This is a course that they are requiring him to take so that he can teach a course they have offered students next year and they agreed in writing to provide DH with the necessary materials to do it. So they really are going to have to figure this out and make it work. Sooooo stupid!!

Got a goodnight email saying he's heard from his principal who said DON'T buy a new laptop and call her first thing in the morning. She's furious with the former IT guy.
