Thanks! I couldn't find my camera once we got there so that was actually from my cell phone.

We need an emoticon for green with envy.....I would love to have spent 2.5 hours on the beach today, that sounds lovely.

Beaches are few and far between out here. Even if you can find one the water is mountain snow runoff and ICE COLD! If I had a million dollars I would build my own beach

I admit I'm not likely to ever leave the East coast. At least not to a point where I can't be to the ocean in a couple of hours. Aside from my first three years in Upstate NY it's all I've known! We don't go often because of the crowds but we've learned to make it work for us, like going later in the day yesterday. When we camp there in a few weeks we'll probably ride our bikes from our campsite to the beach early in the morning then leave when the crowds start coming. Then we'll go back in the evening after they've left. Lots of other stuff we can be doing in the middle of the day!
Sorry, didn't mean to make you all jealous!
I'm back to DS's messy room for a bit. Note the child's tan? Am I bad mom that I don't slather him with sunblock? He has never had a sunburn. He just doesn't burn! Even with that fair skin. He just gets browner and browner.

Boy, they do have us brain washed! I however burn to a crisp very quickly. So I feel like I have to put it on myself. Sigh

More cleaning and sorting and rearranging things in DS's room. Then a friend called and asked if I was free for lunch. DS opted to spend time at my parents' house so YAY!! And she treated!!! Her DH has been out of town for almost three weeks cataloging his recently deceased father's antique gun collection for auction. I gather it was quite extensive. He is coming home tomorrow. My DH comes home Friday after lunch. Yay!! Hoping for a nice weekend so we can do some canoeing maybe. DS and I went Ocean State Job Lot because they had life jackets on sale in the flyer that came today. Well we went and they did indeed have some his size. And every stinking one of them was hot pink. There was no way I was going to persuade him to wear one, even if it did only cost $6. Sigh. I may call another one or two of their stores to see if they have better colors but experience tells me I'll be wasting my time. Worth a shot I suppose! He had a riding lesson on the pony then they rode up the hill in one of the fields. When they got to the top they startled a young fawn that was asleep in the tall grass. The other horse spooked a little and started to rear up. Luckily the pony DS was on stayed calm and there were no real problems. We got there as another girl was riding him and she was having a real hard time getting him to cooperate. She's only 7 but larger than DS. But very impatient sometimes. She held it together this time and was really pleasant to watch her pride in dealing with the situation rather than melting down like she frequently does. Then DS rode him and he was an angel. The owner/instructor has always said this pony can tell when a boy is riding him and he's always seemed to really like DS.
Ugh I'm rambling. I think it's exhaustion. At least our temps have broken. We got some light rain but not enough to help much. I'm hoping for more overnight. The riding ring was a dust bowl!

I have long silk shirts to hide under and I am about to learn to make sun hats. Once I do, I'll have you send me your head measurement. Make you a big floppy hat of awesomeness.

:hugs You're too much! I quite probably have the largest head of anyone on this forum. Seriously, I was once told by an eye doctor to whom I complained about the difficulty I have finding stylish glasses that fit me, that I have a watermelon head. I wonder if he ever figured out why I never went back to see him again........ :idunno :smack i do have a big floppy straw hat that helps a lot. Not very stylish but neither is a swollen peeling red nose! Maybe I'll get some of that pretty purple zinc oxide I saw at CVS the other day where that on my nose!
I do like long skirts too but I hate hate hate being hot. I'm going to look into the mineral based sunblocks and do some research. We're about to spend 4 days at the beach after all! I think I will have a long skirt on hand though..... They just closed our Salvation Army store and I am so mad!!! Now I have to drive about 20 miles to get the nearest one.
