Yum yum! The meal that can taste you back!

I like to smother my liver (after I fry it in bacon grease with the onions) with whole tomatoes and sometimes some hot peppers! :drool

Today's vexation (is that even a word?) is that the last time I made kombucha DH washed and put away my gallon jar and he now has no idea where he put it. Which I didn't realize until I'd made a batch of tea overnight expecting to have something to put it in this morning. I love that he helps around the kitchen cleaning up. I really do. But I wish he would put things in the same place each time. We can't find it anywhere!!

They've come and gone. DS and I went to church. They arrived about 5 minutes before we got home but DH was there to greet them. Everyone was relaxing on the deck enjoying selzer water when we got here. DS entertained his cousin, showing her his birds and goats, then the rabbits. She took it all in stride. The birds were out free ranging and happy. They fed maple seedlings to the goats. She used to try to argue with me about being a vegan and I never would play along. It's nice to see she's mellowed. We enjoyed the black bean burritoes and conversation then they left for MA to visit old friends from when SIL was at Wellesley and from when they lived in Sudbury. SIL will move niece into her dorm at Wellesley tomorrow. We got the update on the divorce situation. Oy! What a piece of work her ex is!
Never did find the kombucha jar so it's in a big glass crock I used once or twice for pickling. Hopefully I got it clean enough!
DS and I did hang around after church for a bit at coffee hour. I was chatting with one of the guys who is a leader in our Cub Scout pack, with younger boys, so he wasn't on our camping trip. He wanted the details. I am growing out my bangs and they are rather awkward right now, so I had pinned them back, then since it is warm and muggy, I'd pulled the rest of my hair back into a bun. Well, the comments I got ranged from stupid to hurtful! I've known these people for over 20 years. I've changed my hair before. WTF!!?? One lady barged right up to me and said, "What's wrong with your hair? Why'd you put it up like that?" Well, PMS and stress got the better of me and I snapped, "Because it's HOT!" She still had to argue with me. "Don't sit on the sunny side of the church." "Just cut your hair short if you don't like it on the back of your neck when it's hot" I refused to argue back after the first comment and told her we had company coming so I had to go. :smack Then her DH asked how long I'd been wearing glasses. Um, 2 years now! I feel like I've been invisible and all of a sudden I'm standing there being judged!! Her DH's comments were not hurtful at all. He's a very pleasant guy. It was just too much all at once. So when yet another person commented on my hair I actually got upset with her. I explain how hurtful the other lady's comments had been and she felt bad. I was so glad to really have an excuse to leave early!

Geez!!!! If I'd know it was pick on Hen day...

I'm not any good on perspective for that sort of thing. I don't know what the rules are supposed to be for such commentary. Sounds very aggravating. I don't like feeling ganged up on. I tend to snarl a lot and sometimes I bite.

It did feel an awful lot like being ganged up on. And this lady is one who should know better than to make comments like that or someone might get their feelings hurt for goodness sake! I'll chalk it up to hormones, stress and a change in barometric pressure. We've got storms coming I think. But between her and 2 people who said they didn't recognize me, my self confidence got shaken up!
I'm debating having the grays covered next time I get my hair cut. I was going to have quite a bit chopped off too. Now I think I'll keep it long, but wear it up, die it green and thumb my nose at her next time I go to church.

Oooo! Wear it up, dyed green, and let bits stick out all over like a greenery display. :gig

I had some snotty person ask me why I had my hair long if all I did was wear it in a stupid braid all the time. I couldn't even think of a scathing enough response. And someone else once said that I HAD TO (yes, she actually thought I had an obligation) cut my hair to donate for cancer. Like some psychotic "god gave you long hair so you could give to those in need" b.s.

Actually, my hair is long because I just like it that way and it is less work. And I won't ever donate my hair. It's a huge pain to do it. Now, if someone wanted to buy it.... maybe I should hit the high end wig stores by Hollywood?

See, I would have taken this as a compliment and said thank you :) We shaved my head this summer because I was dealing with a scalp issue and customers who haven't seen me since before I got my hair cut have said they didn't recognize me :) I always take it as a compliment.

But, having said that :hugs to you and :smack to her!
