Ew! I think I'm fighting something. I'm achy everywhere and my tummy's not right. I'll spare the details. We didn't eat anything at the street fest last night. DS and DH are fine. I've been puttering around all morning but can't get out of my own way. I'm going to lie down....

Hmmm, I tried to nap but couldn't sleep. I read for a bit then got up. I felt a little better so I checked emails, etc. where I found a reminder for "Get Out of ST Paul's" our monthly outdoor service under the trees in the state park nearby. I threw together a chicken salad and some watermelon and quacamole. We had 9 people ranging form 9 years old to 89. The weather had cooled off and the humidity had dropped. Our priest said he had felt ill earlier in the day too. Weird. We were both at the street fest last night but only said hi. He had a beer and I had a sip of DH's beer. So who knows. Maybe it was just a coincedence that the heat got to us both?'
I am feeling the need to sort through my priorities. I'm feeling a little lost as to where I want to go with my life. I really just need to get organized both in household stuff and our schedules for the new school year. I started a written journal to sort through it all. It seems to be helping except it does show all these unfinished projects I've got going on.
SIL called an hour or so ago. We were a little miffed when we were visiting DH's parents on Monday and they mentioned that SIL and niece were going to be there today but hadn't told us. We could have postponed our visit and gotten to see them. Niece will be starting at Wellesly next week so SIL is driving her from Iowa and stopping in NY to see her parents and some HS friends. I think DH was a little hurt that his sister didn't want to make time to see him/us. Well, he got his wish and they are stopping here on Sunday after they leave NY. So now we are in crisis cleaning mode. I hate it! DS is not the most organized person and I know she doesn't expect perfection, but they are animal free and I am going to fret over fur and smells and ugh. So tomorrow we wash the floors and dog beds and clean the rabbit cages a day early, etc. So no time to be sick anyway!

Uggg.. Just think if the end result. You will have a nice visit and the house will be clean. I hate having to clean in a rush. But heck I hate cleaning when I'm not in a rush. :hide

Feel better. don't worry about the unfinished stuff. It will all get done.

I purposely leave my house a bit of a mess most of the time. It keeps the MIL away :p JK...she wouldn't come anyway  I hate cleaning in a rush too, so I just don't get in a rush...I get what I can done and that's it. I like folks to be comfortable, but some are just REALLY picky. I'm NOT Martha Stewart ;)

I try to invite friends over at least once every other weekend or so... that way the house gets cleaned at least semi-weekly, lol.

I used to clean houses for a living (and I was good, too-- had all the work I wanted by word of mouth only), but I've found that you can have a spotless house or you can have a life. I try to keep things clean, but I'm not going to stress because the dogs shed all the time and dust comes through the open windows. The kitchen is cluttered, but no one has ever gotten food poisoning ;)

Yup. Me too! I keep the house just clean enough so it doesn't look like you will catch something by being in it. Just kidding but I have to agree with the rest, i hate to clean in a rush! Try not to stress about it. :hugs

ETA: I know what you mean about feeling a little lost as to where to go in life. I have only recently felt like I have a purpose. I'm not sure what exactly it is but do feel like I'm on the right track. DH has reworked his schedule to allow me to finish my photography degree and has also agreed to let me....uhh take a big farm business risk...I can't say what it is yet, but coming soon. ;) Hang in there sweety it will all work out! :hugs

Yeah, I'm a little less freaked out this morning. It's so like SIL not to plan this a few weeks ago. Not like she didn't know she'd be bring niece to college. But it's typical. Luckily house keeping is not her strong suit either. I think I'm mostly worried about animal smells that we've become immune to. SO the rabbit cages will get scrubbed extra well and the floors will be clean (never a priority this time of year). And some clutter will get stashed behind closed doors. SIL is not judgmental. She's been through a rough few years. Just got divorced. Is sending her youngest off to college. Trying to keep a new business afloat. Selling the 4 bedroom 4.5 bath house that she now lives in alone. On top of it all she has a chronic illness. So I am not too worried. Mostly it's the pet piece. We look like animal hoarders to someone like her!
So today the cleaning happens and I get to plan a lunch that covers one vegan, one almost vegetarian, one Paleo, one allergic to everything and DH. Sigh, fun fun! The vegs will get salad. I refuse to buy soy. SIL will eat fish so maybe tuna on the side for her and DH and I. DS can have a hot dog and some fruit and veggie sticks. Oooo I should make some herbal iced tea today. I've got to start a new batch of kombucha too.

:barnie So I decided to make Cuban Black Bean burritos for lunch tomorrow. Can Ifind the cookbook with my favorite recipe anywhere??? NO! DH pulled all my cookbooks down last week when he tore out our built inbookshelves and dumped them all in miscellaneous unorganized piles on tables in the basement. Nothing makes any sense and I can't find the book I think that recipe is in. So I am STUCK. I can't do anything else because I want THAT recipe, not one of the hundreds I can find on line. I even searched on here thinking I may have shared the recipe at some point. :rant I am NOT happy.
I even looked up the book I think it's in on Amazon to check the index and I'm right.
