Will do! I will have the netbook charged but if the cable goes out that means no Internet. If that happens we'll try to get to the library. Or I think I still have Free's cell#. I give her a quick call to let you all know we're safe and to hear what she knows about others on here. Hopefully she'll be okay a little further inland but there's no quarantees!
Meant to watch the noon news but missed it. I'll go put on the weather channel to check the last predicted storm track.

Leave a message if you don't get me, H23! I don't carry it with me around the farm. Dropped it in the field a couple of times and had to tromp around in the middle of the night with dh's phone, calling it, since one time the ringer was off so I had to look for the light when it rang!

We are putting stuff away and taking tarps in and such. We will put the winter windows into the barn, too. The does will have to be closed in, which worries me a bit. I don't even close that door for a blizzard since it is south-facing. What direction are the winds supposed to come from? I'll load the hay racks with good hay and hope no one gets hurt....especially Plummy. The buck needs to go in the spare stall, and the other stall is still loaded up with all the free buckets of grain I got. We can't move them....there is more than a ton in there and just too much work. In an emergency, I suppose I could put Plummy in with the buckets. Or Mya, as she is least likely to climb on them. Sheesh. We've never had to think about such things before.

I hope we keep power!!!! We should get it back before you, H, because of where we live, so yes, do call and let me know how you fare. Calls will be short if power is out since I don't have a car charger for the ancient phone I had to switch to when I broke/lost the third phone in a year!

Anyone have an old cell phone to spare for a trade for goat's milk soap or wide mouth canning lids? Hey, I should start a thread on this.....

Will do. I've got Abi's cell now too! We will lock everyone up tight Saturday evening and not let them out in the am. We've got almost all the loose stuff in the yard in the shed, garage or basement. DH has collected every water holding thing he can find. We will have gallons and gallons of water. We have enough drinking water for at least 5 days for humans as well. We have neighbors with generators who will let us fill jugs from their wells if we had to I'm sure. But it shouldn't come to that! A few more bird feeders to take down next. It's amazing the amount of junk out there that we don't usually even notice....

Free, DH just donated all our old phones to some charity that sends them to soldiers. Rats! I need soap!!
I'm not sure but the storm will definitely come from a southerly direction. A few days ago they were saying southeast, now it sound more southwest or just south. The arrow I just saw look like it was going straight up from the south and devouring all of New England. Blech!
Need to get in touch with my uncle in South Jersey. He's seen some bad storms down there and lives on tidal river. He will probably not see his front yard for a few days. He may even leave which he almost never does.

Okay, we have one fly in the ointment. DH can't get his chain saw running. He will spend some time on it tomorrow. I know the peace of mind of knowing we can clear downed trees will make me feel better. I keep reminding myself that we could always borrow a neighbor's if we needed to get to the barn or out of the driveway or something. We have good neighbors. They almost all own chain saws.

Yep, you can call me with updates and I'll let everyone know how you are doing. How long do you think you'll be out of power?

The work at home thing means that about a quarter of our employees are about to go down with the storm. LOL! So they are pre-emptively offering all the overtime anyone wants this weekend between being, most likely, short on staff and having a lotta outages with power. Why power goes out so they call wondering why internet is out.... *sighs*

Impossible to know but it could be several days. We are not a high priority area here. If it gets as bad in NYC as they are making out we could get forgotten out here in the East.....

Hen, I remember that storm. We weren't affected by it, but I know over by Bastow area, they had a lot of problems. Isn't that where he lives?

My sister lives 2 in CT-2 blocks from Long Island Sound. But, they have a weekener at Lake George. They, as well as my parents are heading there. So, once the storm blows thru, I'll be heading to my parents house to check on it.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to be that close to the shoreline on Sunday!
Looks like we are going to be on the windy side of the storm. Ick.
My uncle's house is on the Mullica River, not far from Batsto Village. Sounds like the same area you're talking about. He took that picture from his deck. The water was at his feet. It's usually out past the gazebo.

Yep, that's the area. That storm took out bridges and everything. And, w/the rain we got 2 weeks ago, there's still water in places, plus we got more rain Thursday night, so the ground is saturated. There are still roads closed because of water damage. I hate to think of what all this will do.

It ain't gonna be pretty, that's for sure!
Hard to believe we're off to a horse show! I'm curious to see if they're keeping the fair going through today or if they'll start breaking stuff down and kicking people out? We'll see. I'm sure the rides will be coming down this afternoon. They should be anyway. I'm hopeful that DS's events will be early and we can get back to our tag sale. He wants to sell lemonade. We advertised it from 9-3 and we've already had one lady stop by. SHe drove an ancient van and parked in the middle of our street on a blind corner. I ran out to get her to move just before the paper delivery guy came flying around that corner. Since we don't get the paper he zooms past us and the next house. If she hadn't moved he would have clobbered her. Anyway, DH was still putting stuff out and she grilled him about what we've got then took off. She said she had other sales to hit and would be back. Hopefully people will be out and about getting ready for the storm and will stop by. We're not far off the main road.
Had a rough night. Something I ate didn't agree with me and I was up at 3:30 getting sick. I'm fine now. We had dinner at our friends' house and DH and DS are both fine so I'm not sure what happened. We all ate the same stuff. I haven't eaten yet and will probably not do much more than a couple of scrambled eggs. I braved a cup of coffee because I do have to get DS to the show in one piece!
