Any chance you'll be told to evacuate? Little chance where we are since we're inland but I bet the CT coast will have to consider it.
True FF! I've got a freezer full of stuff we can cook up. It may not look like a traditional meal but we won't be hungry!

They will definitely evacuate the outer banks and probably the oceanfront Va Beach but we live inland too. We are about 1.5 hrs from the ocean so we won't be going anywhere.

I have several friends at work who are supposed to evacuate but chose not to.

The only issue with work at home is that there are about 20 of us on any shift (handling all the calls nation wide)... so if there is a power outage or they lose internet, we lose 4-5 folk and the calls double because no one has internet and for some reason wants to know why (gosh, could it be that storm that's on you? Why are you on the cell phone when the power is out calling us about internet?? and, yes, I've had that call.)

So we are in full prep mode. For our tag sale tomorrow.... DH still has to roll up the awning but the yard is picked up of loose stuff. We have another kiddy pool to fill with water. I was just chatting with a church friend who has Highland cattle. She is off to TSC for a 100 gallon water tank. She's got one but wants a second just in case. Guess those big guys drink a lot more than my little goats! We've got 100 gallons in our little water garden, several kiddy pools and lots of gallon jugs. We'll fill the bath tub. Still doesn't feel like it's enough. I watched people panic at Big Y yesterday because the shelves of bottled water were already empty. I got some the day before. DH picked up an extra propane tank for the grill. We've got plenty of food. We stocked up on animal feed yesterday. Not sure what else we can do that we haven't already! DS is taking it in stride. He knows nothing of hurricanes other than watching Katrina coverage on TV. He's worried but not panicked. He's more worried about riding in tomorrow's fair. His instructor has told him there will be a lot more kids riding than he's used to at the little show he's been to before. I will take him while Mom and DH stay home at the tag sale. :/ Bad timing.

New horse on the farm. Don't know much about him but he sure is a handsome guy!

We are trying to get ready too but I honestly think we are far enough west that it will miss us altogether. We are really worried about MIL though, she is in Wilmington NC and hasn't evacuated yet and probably won't  With her we worry about flooding and power outages. If the roads flood around her then she won't be able to leave. She says she has everything packed up just in case she has to leave but the dang thing is supposed to hit her head on tonight....how much longer is she gonna wait :he Her boyfriend lives in Fayetteville NC and she could go there but she wants to stay to look after her clients' rental properties. GRRRRR.

Good luck and keep us posted on how you guys are!

Small state like CT it's hard to get far enough inland! We're pretty much guaranteed to lose power. And then with ALL the outages who knows when we'll get it back. Aside from potential tree damage and flooding in the basement we just have to worry about the "big picture" like the rest of the country and how a big northern East Coast storm is going to affect us all.

If you have any way to get back online or call one of us so they can post you're okay, we'd love to hear about you before the power makes it back :D

Stay safe!
