Very true!
However bad this year seems, I did, for the first time ever, pick and eat blueberries from my very own bush!! We got 8 altogether. Mmmmmm! Even my son liked them and he is not a berry eater.

Puppy went to the vet for his next round of shots today. We talked about the squinty eye situation yesterday. Both the vet and the technician thought his whole face looked a little puffy. We couldn't find any signs of a sting or bite but that made the most sense. It is better this evening. The other possibility is allergies of some sort. He has been scratching some lately and I've flea combed him every night and found nothing. The vet saw no signs of external parasites either. He did say that "blondes" are more prone to skin allergies. It may be the food. He's currently eating Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy. He's turned his nose up at it a few times lately. Maybe he's trying to tell us something?
Started and finished a skirt with my new sewing machine. Red linen. It's a little fuller than I had hoped but I love the color. I may have my mother look at it and see if it can be taken in some. It would be easy enough except for the pockets. I really don't want to rip out the side seams but I may have to. Too tired to deal with it tonight. I'll revist it in the morning.

I'm leaving the skirt as is and decided that taking the fullness in an inch or two isn't going to change the fact that I need to lose weight!
I've spent a fair amount of time researching puppy foods and will be switching him over with the next bag. I'm liking what I read about Orijens, which has a large breed puppy formula. I can't buy it locally though, I'd have to drive about 40 minutes. Wellness and Innova both seem to be much higher rated than Eukanuba and I can get those locally. I talked to the vet today and he agrees switching foods may help with what may be a mild food allergy. He just would prefer I not take him off a puppy formula yet. So I'll gradually switch him to a higher quality one.
We've had one shower today so far. It's the monthly street fest in Willimantic. We got rained out last month so we're really hoping to be able to go tonight. It will be the first time we'll be able to take the puppy with us.

My previous golden got a swollen face from eating a hot dog. We took her to the vet ER where they said it was the nitrates. They also said they wished people knew to keep hot dogs & lunch meats from dogs for this reason. My new golden never gets a tiny nibble of that stuff. Just our experience.
Glad the little guy is ok!

Thanks, me too. His face was better today for a while then after lunch looked a little puffy again. I really think it may be the food. He doesn't get people food so it can't be that. Our first Golden was very sensitive. We didn't feed him premium food at first. I can't remember what we gave him, but it had some sort of different colored pieces of kibble. It was a grocery store brand. What a mess! It didn't not agree with him at all, both internally and his skin. I started working for the vet right around then and they encourage me to switch him to something higher quality. That took care of that. :)
We took him to the Third Thursday Street Fest. It was exhausting trying to walk down the street with everyone wanting to meet him. I was prepared for that. I was not prepared for the cranky woman who told me he was cute but didn't belong there. She couldn't, or wouldn't give me a straight answer why she thought that so I just told her she was entitled to her opinion and she stomped off. Whatever. It's a street fest lady. If you don't like dogs stay away. I don't necessarily like loud, rude teenagers, but I accept that they're going to be at a street festival.

Maybe why WE shouldn't be eating them either!

Probably good advice. I try to limit them here. I don't cook hot dogs at home. I will occasionally buy turkey from the deli. We will get a hot dog if we're out once in a while. Luckily DS and DH are not big deli meat fans. I could eat myself sick on salami and liverworst, etc. so I just don't have it here.
I made the puppy a meatloaf. He's enjoy nibbles of that!

No avoiding it. I need to clean out DS(7)'s room. It's cluttered and he literally can't put everything away anymore. We all let it slide at the end of the school year. SO now I'm going through and reducing the number of things in there. Some toys will go to the basement where he can get to them if he wants them. The rest will need to fit on the toy shelves. There's just too much in there. If I step on one more Lego you may hear my screams of pain wherever you are!

I feel that way about diapers!
I found the top of his dresser. I have a small pile of single socks. Anybody seen their mates?
On lunch break. Crackers with cream cheese and smoked salmon, a fuji apple and water.
It's HOT!
