found the top of his dresser. I have a small pile of single socks. Anybody seen their mates?
Check the dryer. :gig
Oh I have I have.
DS has asked to repaint and redecorate the room. We agreed that if he participates in the clean up and maintains it we can do that. It's been the same outer space theme since he was potty trained 4 years ago. Now he wants it to an Indiana Jones type theme. Could be fun. Fresh paint on the walls. A new duvet cover for the space ship comforter. The carpet needs to come up. The floor is hardwood, far from good condition, but still. A nice natural fiber area rug... He's got lots I.J. toys that can be decorations. This could work.

Oh, that'd be cool!

My aunt redid her living room with (hear me out!) brown paper bags. She ripped them into rough triangle shapes and used wallpaper paste to put them up. The end product looked like an old creased leather map. It was awesome, cheap and pretty darn easy, she said. Since it is supposed to look rustic, you just water down a bit of wallpaper paste in a bucket or paint tray, drag the paper bags through the paste & slap em on the wall. Wrinkles & odd edges were fine, she just made sure there weren't any bubbles by running over each section with a firm paint roller. And if you did that before you pulled up the carpet, no mess to worry about later :)

Sounds pretty cool but I'm not sure DH would go for it. I might try it on a piece of wood or something to show him a sample though. We wouldn't have to do all the walls in the whole room that way anyway.

I have seen that paper bag thing. Looks cool - like leather!

Give that kid a roller! I have pictures of my three all painting. The littlest is painting away in his diaper with his binky! He was probably 18 mos!

He helped the last time so I'm sure he'll want to this time!
We have a path to the window, the a/c unit can go in!! That will make working in there so much easier. :D

You could even paint a design on the floor that could resemble an encrypted code or something. The compass rose might even be cool. That is if you don't mind painting on the wood floor. ;)
A wall could also be painted to look like a stone wall. If you are creative, you and your son could spend a weekend making masks and use them for decorating as well. Maybe a future project, when you need to keep him occupied ;) preferably outside, it can get messy.

I actually did a "stone wall" effect in my daughter's room (now MY sewing / storage room) when they were younger. I painted the wall with semi-gloss white and then sponged small (about 1 1/2 inch) stones on top in a flat and semi-gloss paint colors of off white and very light beige.

The room is a knee wall room, vertical walls about 4 feet tall then the ceiling slants down to meet the wall with a flat place in the center of the room. My "stone wall" covered the vertical part of the wall, then I painted a stenciled morning glory vine with coral and pink flowers all along the top of the "wall" and allowed them to crawl up around the windows and down into some corners. Turned out neat, but takes FOREVER! Especially the stenciling!

That does sound cool. I know DH won't go for painting the floor, no matter how rough its condition is. It's just one of those things. He can cut a whole in the side of the house to add a sliding glass door, but paint a floor?? Not gonna happen!
Ugh, it is hot and sticky today. I should have made the appetizer I need to bring to a picnic later last night. Now I'm going to have to turn my oven on.
