Two days later we found one more. Still waiting for number three. I have no idea which chicken laid it. The second egg is also very light. My white egg layer is laying a big white egg everyday so we know it's not her. I have one Sicilian Buttercup pullet. I found this info. on Henderson's chicken chart: "early maturing,
but full comb takes longer". That would fit. Her comb is growing well, but nowhere near full. The BO's combs are small and still pretty pale. The GLWs' combs are still pretty much non existant. It's a mystery!
Tonight is our monthly street fest in town. DH's band is playing in the early slot on the main stage in the beer garden. It's hot and humid again today. Showers had been predicted but the updated forecast is dry. Hopefully we won't have a washout. BTDT, it stinks. This event does not get rescheduled and we really look forward to it! I wouldn't mind a thunderstorm later in the evening to cool things down. I'm getting nothing done here.

I hope you have fun at the festival. We've had intermitent (sp) thundershowers all day. I had to put hay in the chicken's runs cause it was so soupy. BTW, soupy chicken's runs sure does stink!

Oh, and congrats on getting your first eggs!

We did, despite the heat and humidity. Ran into lots of friends, ate some fun food, listened to go music.
Looks like my year olds are laying a little better than they had been too. Got 8 today! We were down to 4 or 5 a day out of 12 hens. We need to lay more hay in the pen here too. I slip and slide trying to walk through there. It's so disgusting. I swear it will never dry out. And yup, it stinks! Ducks don't help either....

I watch the sales and buy cedar chip mulch for my hen run. It lasts a long time. It smells pretty good even soupy and since it is outdoors I don't worry about the cedar smell bothering the hens.

We either have to drive to the Agway, where the owners have an attitude and the staff is a little out there, on the other side of town, or to the TSC that is more than 25 miles away when we need bird stuff. This is going to save me gallons of gas! They've been building all summer and the place has looked finished for a couple of weeks now but no signs or ads telling WHEN they were going to open. Finally I just looked around for a phone number, found one and called. You know where I'll be tomorrow!!

Haha! They opened for a few hours tonight so I popped in for 10 minutes. Wasn't there for two when I heard someone ask that all important question, "will you be selling chicks in the spring?" The answer was YES! DH is going to have to take away my keys. I will drive right by on my way to work 2 days a week and almost anytime I go anywhere else except the library and church. This is literally 1.7 miles from my house. Which I mentioned to at least two of the friendly employees who asked if I needed help finding anything.

DS seems to have picked up a bug. He's had a fever all day and later in the day had diarrhea. At first I thought was just having a tough time with the heat. Tylenol brings the fever down for a bit. He's got no appetite of course. Not a fun way to spend the last weekend of summer vacation.

It's raining lightly but still warm and humid. There have been thunderstorms around the state but none close by. We were under a tornado watch for a few hours but nothing severe has occurred. Only this light rain. Oh well. We need that!
