HP - Texas is hot and humid, but there are many places in Texas that are downright beautiful.

...the Hill Country or Davy Crockett National Forest, or even Austin, come to mind.

ETA: I don't think I've ever made spare ribs in the crock pot, just beef short ribs. Yummy!

but would you tell me how to make crock pot ribs please?
Nothin fancy I just stick em in and cover them with sauce on LOW. I do pork neck bones the same way. The ribs are a little more greasy, but still yum!

<--- Also retired from Texas.

I definitely DON'T miss fire ants. I used to do my gardening before 9 am and then I went swimming at the public pool until it closed. That is the ONLY way to survive Texas. I must admit I miss the midnight naked swimming in pools that are still warm from the sun though.

Crockpot ribs are bomb-diggity! That's how my stepmom makes them and she cooks them until they are just about to fall off the bone.

Got Olive Oil! $19.99 for 5 quarts, and yeast, $3.89 for 2 pounds! I'm all happy, but can't stay, must go outside.

On a side note, I think it's the cottonwood trees around here, there are DRIFTS of fluffy white seed pollen things around. It honestly looks like it's snowing. 'Kay bye.

I put my ribs in the crockpot, too. If it's a weather fit day, they then go out on the grill for about 20 minutes. I slather on the sauce and cook till it's kind of crusty on the outside. :drool

I ended up just boiling and baking the ribs. Next time I will crock pot them, but I didn't have time.

I also got whole chickens on sale for $.79 per pound. They're in the freezer, as I don't have all the stuff for cat food making. If I can't find any on sale, then Costco has the next cheapest, for $.99 per pound. Got lemons for lemonade. Got coconut oil. Was like $5.99, I think for a quart.

My parent's business is going better. It's roofing. Strange people out there. Had a potential repair job... Then the husband calls and says "my wife says we can't afford the $800 it would take to fix it." Then he must have called around for references on us... Long story short, he's getting a METAL roof done and called saying "how much to get started?" We got his check for $12,000. :ep Anyway, the metal is expensive so that's not pure profit or anything. But jobs are picking up for us!

I was thinking, if I took a few classes (if they offer them anymore) I could do sewing for people. I'm not really professional or anything like that. But curtains are not hard. It's just a thought of a potential income. My sewing isn't the greatest, but mostly because if you sew for yourself, you don't always make it perfect. Anyway, it's a thought.

I had a headache all day today, and it got worse after I got home... I very rarely get headaches, and they usually go away if I drink lots of water. So I was irritated that it didn't after I had water... I feel bad for all you migraine sufferers out there, I hate my silly mild headaches and they're not too bad! Anyway, at around seven I suddenly realized, after I had got home from work, I pulled my hair into a ponytail. ..... DUH. I stopped wearing my hair that way BECAUSE it gave me headaches. Good grief. So now I have it in a nice braid, and the headache is gone!

Mental note: Ponytails give you headaches!!

I use to get headaches from ponytails too. Actually one thing I noticed when my hair was long. Anytime I wore it different. Like pulled back with a hair band or used combs or barrets different I would get a headache.
My remedy for the situation was a major hair cut. Now my beautician laughs at me. She always ask, how short and I always answer the same. Just whack it til it can't flop in my face.
