Do you own a cat, or know anyone that does? If so, get the kitty litter in those jugs. Depending on the size of them, they hold up to about 3, 4 gallons. And, since they have a screw on top, you can transport water w/out having it splash on you. I use one all the time out at the farm for taking water to both my chickens and the farm chickens. I've also used it if I have water buckets in w/the horses to top them off. It's much easier to carry the water this way.

Hmm good thinking. I don't worry too much about the chickens because I only have to deal with them once in a while. Next time I have to deal with them in the freezing I might see what alternative I can come up with.
Didn't sleep well at all last night. It was terrible. There might be a nap in my future today. Was woken up at midnight with all the fireworks and guns. At last I think there were fireworks. Finally fell asleep this morning and woke up when the bf kissed me goodbye because he was going to take care of the dogs for me so I didn't have to. He takes such good care of me. He told me to go soak in the bath when I get up because for some odd reason it was horribly dry last night. We both had problems with it. Plus it will make my back feel better because it access from sneezing and sniffing so much.
Beyond that we need to put some work in with the hay feeder today and I need to actually fix dinner. There's a Novel thought... lol

The same to you, @Wannabefree
Here's to a new year full of easy growth and positive changes!

We didn't get a lot done today. No work on the hay feeder which isn't good but it is What it is. I think we just needed some down time. We'll just have to be Sure to make up for it this weekend. We did manage to cook dinner and that didn't take as long as I expected which was good since I was hungry! Farm raised chicken quarters, rice and broccoli. Yum!
Now the question is whether I can sleep tonight. It seemed to be a lot dryer than normal in here and I have no idea why except that things froze again. We don't have a humidifier so I don't really know what to Do to deal with it. Is making my stuffy nose uncomfortable though. I guess the good news is it's not running.

My grandma used to boil a pot of water on the stove all day when it was dry in the house. I have done it as well, and it works wonders! Just don't let it run dry ;) Put it on medium heat, just enough to keep a steady stream of steam coming off of it. I hope you feel better soon girl!

Yeah, I've been trying to figure out How to do something like that. Unfortunately the pellet stove isn't good to sit a pot if water on. I was hoping the bf could rig up a way to create a sort of platform on the flat part of the stove pipe so I could sit water on it. That pipe gets hot!
For my errands run. Picked up my pay from keeping the chickens, put that and the check from the lesson in the bank, speed at depot for BOSS for the horse for extra fat, also noticed they have pellets for 218/ton which is the best price and we can order online via ebates for a little more cash back, ran into target and picked up 2 more boxes of Christmas light clips for outside light at 70% off, went into the grocery store for bread that I didn't get the other day (buy 1 get 1 free wahoo) and got bread making flour and yeast to try out the bread maker. We'll see How that works.
Looks like this weather system could be really bad. I'm regretting that I don't have the money to afford a blanket for storm. Its supposed to snow and get cold and very windy. I need to clean up the porch so there aren't things sitting around that could blow around. I really want to get the house cleaned up too But I'm not sure how motivated I am.

At the moment we are 34 with a real feel of 22. I have no doubt it's going to get colder. I'm afraid to know what it's going to be tomorrow.
I got most of the porch cleaned up. I didn't move the grill because it was big but now that the snow started I wish I had. I also meant to bring in the last few bags of pellets and didn't which means we'll probably have to bring them in when it's gross outside. So it goes.
There is bread in the bread maker so we'll see what happens. It was protesting a bit with some strange squeeks but seems to be doing whatever is supposed to Do so far. I have a pot off chili on the stove as well. I hope it's good since I haven't used this recipe out of the better homes and gardens cookbook.
I got really irritated and had an adult temper tantrum when several things just didn't work earlier. I got so frustrated and I know that the emotions are displaced from somewhere else, and here they are now leaking out when I don't want them to. It makes me madder that it's happening and I know I shouldn't be reacting to the situation with that much emotion.
I guess I'll sort it out eventually. I wish I had the money to afford a healer like I need. Obamacare won't cover that for Sure.

I'm glad that my horses all have blankets and I'm wondering how some of the others on the farm are going to make out w/this cold.

Well the bf didn't get home until 9:15 last night but he arrived safe and Sound. As luck would have it he's on a shorter route today so he should get home at a good time. That's a good way to start the weekend. Now the question is whether or not it Will actually happen that way.
The horse is still standing in the pasture so I guess that is a good sign. Thankfully there was no mix of rain with this, otherwise it could have Been a lot worse. All told i suspect we got about 6". My thermometer says it went down to 14 last night. And rumor has it that the 22 that it is now is the high and temps will be falling. I just watched the wind blowing snow off the roof and it was blinding in the Sun. That'll make for dangerous driving conditions.
My first loaf of bread turned out ok. It tastes good though it is a Little dense. I'm looking forward to trying some other flavors and seeing if I can do this on a consistent basis to some degree.
Today I do not plan to go outside much if I can help it. I need to feed the horse since I now have sunflower seeds for him to add a little fat to his diet. If I weren't worried about that I think i Would skip feeding. Oh well, I'll be a good horse mommy. I have to go out anyway to being in more pellets since I didn't Do it yesterday. Otherwise I plan on staying inside and attempting to clean some more. We'll see How far I get.
