You Southerners HAVE school delays because of ice and snow?? Really? I'm sorry! That cracks me up!
We had flurries here and they cancelled school. You have to realize folks here can't drive on dry roads, much less icy ones! :p

I believe it has been bad everywhere the last few days. My kids had school one day this week and it was on a 2 hour delay. They are off again tomorrow due to 6 inches of snow,..lucky me,.. I know I grew up here and we never had "snow days". That old school bus would come rattling up the road with his chains on and sometimes the bus would get stuck going up the hill to our school and we would have to get out and walk,..you know barefooted and no coat,.. :old :gig I am glad they cancel school here now like they do,..the roads are terrible (steep mountains)and most of the drivers are idiots (sorry, don't want to offend anyone) I feel better with mine home. Last year was the deal breaker here,..there was a few busloads of kids who got stuck out on the interstate all night because of the school's policys over snow,...parents were up in arms and fighting mad over that,..it was the next county over from us. Thank goodness my kids weren't involved,..I probably would have went to jail. :D

Nicole's bus comes to the front of my house at 7:32 each morning

yup---this morning no bus

she darn near started to cry LOL
she doesn't want to be a "drive by"---I told her it was "drive in" kid

lol

anyway I got the car defrosted, we finally got in a 1 min to 8......got to the top of the road and there was the bus turning into my road.

Bonnie said she was sliding all around, buses were froze up and took a long time to defrost and I got Nicole out of the car and into the bus.

LOL

oh well, weird morning here

you know it is amazing the number of kids that are driven to school

I guess with work schedules etc it is easier to drop them off than to wait on that bus schedule.

I am so lucky at this point not to have to work. So hard to juggle life nowadays for everyone!

I take mine to school and pick him up. He'd love to ride the bus, but I won't let him. And there's plenty of days that's the only reason I go into town. But I learned WA-A-AY too many things on the school bus, and that was above and beyond recess, free-time at school. I think because around here, we don't have buses for the different age groups - pre-K - 12 ride on the same bus. Also, with him having Asperger's, it's one less chance for a public meltdown :/

Just my 2 cents....

oh ya know our bus is not different in age

but the little kids are up front with the drive, the medium age is in the middle and older in the back.

but on her bus, this barely comes into play ---cause hardly no one rides the bus.

she was so excited cause she sat with a 2nd grader.....woo hoo.....apparently the sister of her Kindergarten friend...haha...she said she was nice

unless circumstances change I love the bus lol

I went to High School in Rochester NY. 157 inches of snow sophomore year. NO SNOW DAYS for us back then, in the dark ages!

Here, if it says it might snow, there is a delay.

You all have had miserable weather. I simply cannot imagine.

Starting tomorrow, we're gonna have 7 - 10 days of consecutive rain. They are emptying some of the lakes/reservoirs to make room for the run off. Wow...

Global warming?
My cousins went to Brighton High. Were you in Rochester itself? Just curious. It would be weird if you knew them!! I was born in Rochester, live in Henrietta (surprise, surprise!!) till I was three then moved to CT. I don't remember the snow..
I went to Pittsford High School for sophomore year, then to Pittsford Mendon HS for the remainder. Pittsford Mendon was a brand new school cus the population of us baby boomers was too much for the old school. But that was back in 1971, cus I grad from there in '73. We lived on Knickerbocker Hill in Pittsford.

Jawja, y'all
we had sleet here night before last, which froze all over the roads by time to leave work. We're talking Georgia, where this hardly ever happens. I would have made it home in my good ol' Pontiac Aztec, but for the car that slid to my side of the road as I was going uphill. Had to back down, park on a side street, and walk the last mile and a half home.

Reminded me of my college days in Blacksburg, VA, where it seemed like we had ice everywhere half the winter. I commented to my sister it was a lot harder slipping and falling these 30 years later; she countered no, it's just as easy doing that, it's the getting back UP that's harder! :gig
