Wow QA....I think I know how you are feeling. We have been "snowed in" for a week now. Well, hubby of course "gets to go to work" I have been home, tending animals, sick with pneumonia....and just sick and tired of being sick and tired! Saturday, I INSISTED hubby take me to town...just to see " the others" :gig Yup, you are right!! They ARE out there!!! I swear, I saw them too!!! REAL poeple....walking, driving, TALKING!! Not peeping, bagawking, crowing, baahing...quacking, barking or purring. REAL words!! It sure made a world of difference....just to know, everyone didnt fall of the end of the earth. When hubby came home from work, and would talk about " so and so said this, or so and so did that" I thought he was makeing up stories...that he was just driving to the edge..and sitting there makeing up stories...untill time to come home. :p Nope, the world IS out there...and I am going out there again tomorrow...snow or no snow. I need people interaction!
I have a few ideas tho...new curtains...even just change them from one room to the other..move furniture..make the room look different. Like you, I went crazy with the " oh, we dont need this, or that, or this either" Goodwill is going to either love me...or hate me. Chin up....spring is just around the corner...and once you get to dig into that fresh soil...you will feel better.

BEAM ME UP SCOTTY!!

What we need about now is a good transporter.

I would beam you over to my house kids and all tomorrow for a good old fashioned sheet rocking party and then we could go out to the local "feed me till I am fat cafe" and I could still beam you home in time to do evening chores and sleep. It would be a "lovely" day in the city complete with snow plows, trash trucks and screaming sirens.

If you could stay a little later, or beam back after chore time (heck maybe I could help and you could get them done even faster) you could stay to see night fall. Then you could remember why it is that cities never sleep - it is too bright outside from all of the stupid lights! If we are really lucky we might even get to see the stupid person who races up and down our street late at night on a "pocket bike" motorcycle with no helmet, license or lights or perhaps the gang of about 6 to 10 teens that roam the streets riding their skateboards down the middle of the street (in all weather) at about 2 AM!!

Maybe when you finally beam home I can come with you for a while. I could see the stars, play with your peeps and just snuggle with a hot cup of tea in a cozy home in the country.

Now ... who has a transporter we could use?

this is exactly how i feel! when i was in civilization i kept saying 'look at all the people! wow!' half the time i talk to whoever will listen - cashiers, the guy behind the counter, gal in the truck next to me at a stoplight, whoever.

my hubby always gets a weird look when i tell him that i 'just want to talk to someone ELSE.' for heavens sakes i already know what he is going to say!

hee hee hee

and oh look - there is the radar. here comes more snow.

Spring fever, cabin fever, I think every once in a while people just need a change. Change the curtains, change the paint, dye your hair, cut it off, just something different. I hate looking at the same things day after day.

I may have sunshine and record heat today but the rut happens here as well. Maybe it's our age?

I hope you had fun at the auction today. I would love to go to an auction. Just something different than the normal routine.

So what animal did you bring home today Aly????

I didn't go to the auction.

I was still feeling in a rut - blah sorta - and I knew I needed to do something - I needed to clean out something, make it seem like we've more space because I'm feeling so confined and cramped....

So, I called friend R over the hill, and our conversation was like this:

Me: hey whatcha doin' today?
her: going to auction..
me: do you have to go to the auction?
her: have to or want to?
me: have to...
her: well, no, but I want to....
me: do you want to go to auction, or do you want to come to Aly's house and take home free food....
her: what?! free food?!
me: yep, I'm going to organize and clean the kitchen today - and I have some food stuff that will be needing a new home...
her: be there in a minute!

So, she comes up, and not only that, she brought water!!! lots of water! AND her teen son, who shovelled my driveway! and my porch!

So, we fixed up dish water and washed dishes and went through all my cupboards - which was hilarious!

We opened the first cupboard:

her: omg! that's a lot of food!
me: uh huh

We get through the first cupboard, and I fill her round tote that she brought to take the stuff home in. We're not talking recently purchased groceries, we're talking stuff I've had stockpiled for a year or so and was getting close to expiration. Or stuff we learned we don't like.

So, we go to the next cupboard....her eyes nearly bulged out of her head when she saw all the food there...we organized it, rotated it, and again, loaded her up with anything we weren't eating/using/or I had waaay too much of.

Then we get to above the fridge. I had like a gazillion boxes of oatmeal, so I gave her two.

Then the cabinet by the stove...I had stuff I forgot I had! I sorted through and kept what I needed, but I had a gabillion boxes of Jiffy Mix, so I kept half and gave her the other half.

Then we get to the final cabinet. I open it up and -

Her: OMG, Aly! what are you doing with all this food?! It's like a grocery store!!
Me: Uh, not starving?!

:gig

She has 8 kids, so while it looked like she left with a lot of groceries, I know that what I sent in reality will probably only last them 2 weeks...while I still have enough on hand to feed us all the way into summer...........

But, my kitchen is organized, cleaner, and seems slightly larger - it now gives the impression of having more space than it does. :)

And I feel TONS better.

Aly Im glad to see you are feeling better and figuring out what you need to do. Myself I have been that way too many times. I decided I don't like the ways things are going around here,..so Im changing it. Farming isn't the life for me,..I like my few chickens, the couple of ducks,..but other than that,..nothing else for me. No more big gardens, no more mowing acres and acres of grass :barnie . I am tired,..real tired. We never have much time to enjoy ourselves,..we haven't in a long time. We are downsizing everything,...going back to having a life. I have thought about this for a long time,..and basically decided we don't have to live this way. Our ancestors did it because they had to,..why am I doing it? Well the food does taste better and it can be quite satisfying to grow your own food,..BUT,..I kept a running financial total on it and it has took a big financial chunk out of our wallets,..and none of us really "like" doing it. So to make a long story short,..Im done. Sometimes it is just cabin fever,..but sometimes it is time to reevalute your life and make changes.
:hugs for you Aly.
