When we moved here, in order to get to know eveyone, after planting season we would have a get together with everyone in the valley. When we first did it, it was a one time thing, until Judy mentioned doing it the next year. This year Dale hosted the party.
I took my homemade chip dip, and my own Korean BBQ'd beef. I like to take things to partys that is rare and different, I wouldn't take something that I didn't like myself. I made two types, regular and hot-n-spicey. Because I knew there were going to be 40 people or more I took 10 pounds of each. As it was my turn to grill, the smell of the smoke, people gathered quickly to see what was on the grill. Not a single slice of beef was left to bring home!!
While grilling it, I was explaining what it was, where I had learned to make it. While in Korea, I met a female friend who taught me how to make it. She had fixed it for dinner one night for us.
Happy Fathers day guys!!!
With traditional spirit, I recieved some very nice things, and one very special present that I will share with you in a minute. I'd like to take a few minutes and talk about my favorite sport, football. I am a huge Steelers fan, game day at my house is like a tail gate party even if its Monday night football.
Now, gifts from the heart are the best gifts. For parents its a homemade card or a craft they made for you. My wifes engagement ring was picked out by me and made by a Jewish Jewler who is a good friend of mine. I picked out the raw stone, we looked at many that day, he ground and cut it for the best possible diamond. His wife smelted the band from some gold jewelry that I already had that was broke, it was made this way not from a recycle point of view, but as a Craftsmens point of view.
So here is what my DW made me this year.......
As sign to go on my gate....
Pictured is my cover strawberry beds, my wind spinner, me watering my lima beans, the old shovel that I keep in the garden that I made from a old disc, my morning glories that I love and plant every year, my chickens, and The Purdee Pickle factory.
These were all photographs that were taken, made into digital art, and put together. What a thoughtful, heart given gift!!! Now I know why everyone was wishing me a Happy Fathers Day Friday, though at the time seemed just a gesture.
I hope you all have a great Dads Day!!!!
