I think all kids are crap magnets! What a great phrase.... Crap magnet
I agree. Java it is not just your kids at all. My mom finally got my point about not buying them crap. She was the worst. This year for Christmas she bought them each 1 nice thing (which I picked out) and they were extremely happy with it.

We did a big clean out in December. I had some time off from work and the kids were home from school and I made them get rid of almost half of their stuff as well.

Good luck, it feels so good when you get it done.

I was thinking that term applied to Hubby more than my kids....:duc

I was fantasizing the other day about one of those huge dumpsters being in my driveway where I could put half of his STUFF, hopefully before he noticed!

Hubby and I were chatting today and the possibility of moving in the future came up again as it sometimes does. THIS time however hubby started talking about how he would hate to have to move all of our stuff and .... now listen carefully here ...

we should do some serious clean out this Spring! :weee

I have been wanting to pitch a bunch of HIS junk for years now and some of mine as well. Perhaps the day is coming soon and we can get a dumpster!! :bun (< dumpster lovin' dance)

I'm telling you, the things I daydream about...giant trash cans, moving just so I can get rid of stuff... Glad to see I'm not alone.

Sorting and putting away is my preferred method, but it doesn't work for my 4 year old. All her toys are tiny and similar and she has a special talent for sending them to every nook and cranny of the house. I swear her toys are breeding  And if all her toys were gone, she's not particular - she would make toys to play with. She's a force :)
Just as I finished sorting in my son's bedroom (and he's the neat, minimalist kid) I went to my other daughter's room. I realized I hadn't heard Joy (the 4yr old) for a few minutes and sure enough, she was in my son's room de-organizing. That girl :barnie Both of my girls like things spread out. I'm OK with that when they can keep it in their own rooms.

I went to put up a new shower curtain and it's too short! Very odd. WTH? Do they come in different lengths? I suppose I could lower the rod, but it would feel odd. Hubby is picking up another on his way home.

Reminds me of the days when my kids were little.

I was remodeling a bedroom and had to scrape off 4 layers of wallpaper off of unfinished plaster walls. When I was done there were gouge marks everywhere, so I just skim coated the entire room with new spackle. I had just finished the final sanding and was ready to paint when I heard banging...

my D1 was rapidly knocking holes in the wall all around the room with a hammer that I had left on the floor! :barnie

She was just "helping" me. :th

Over the past few months of decluttering and cleaning out closets I had accumulated quite a large pile on my front porch. dh kept nagging about when I was going to get rid of it all. I originally wanted to have a yard sale but just couldn't get it together. So I caved, loaded up my truck and hauled it all to Am Vets. I was so frustrated at the kid taking my stuff. He Didn't help unload anything and kept questioning my stuff. This stuff was nowhere near junk. I finally had attitude and said "do you want this stuff or not?". He got my point.

The funny thing is dh did not notice the porch was clean for 3 days. :he

Oh I am sure he would notice if I cleaned his stuff.

Oh and don't get me started on the 5yo. That girl is a tornado!!
