Thanks Glen Um yeah, I just saw the weather channel...good luck in a couple days. I believe the word Nor'Easter was used...(I sincerely hope it's not that bad)
Guys, this bread is heavenly. If you aren't opposed to a little white flour, try it
Crusty Honey Wheat Bread
Combine wet ingredients in something you can heat up:
1 cup milk
1 cup water
1/2 cup honey
3 Tb. butter
Heat above ingredients to 120 degrees.
Add 1 egg, but temper it into the wet ingredients so ya don't scramble it!
Dry ingredients: *I mess around with the flour percentages alot*
4 - 4.5 cups of whole wheat flour
2- 2.5 cups white flour
1Tb. salt
2 packets of yeast, or equivalent amount (today I used 1 TB of instant yeast)
I usually add some vital gluten, especially for a higher amount of whole wheat
So then mix, knead, rise, shape, put in greased and floured pan, rise until doubled, bake. Bake at 400 for 10 minutes, turn down to 350 and bake another 30-35 minutes.
