Good idea. If the sun comes out I may go sit on the driveway - the only place that a chair won't sink into the ground - and drink :p maybe I'll invite the goats to sit with me.

I'm not hugging Fran! She'll eat me  Look at that face!

Sigh, I was so excited to see the sun this morning, in spite of the fog and the raindrops dripping off of everything, because it rained all night. Yes, in Ohio there was one tiny little strip of rain that cut across the state and I was in it. Anyway. So the sun is out. I grab my milking supplies and fly out the door. Only to be hit with a wall of skunk stink and I think maybe diesel fuel so bad I almost vomited :sick. So wet + skunk smell pretty much canceled out my excitement. I gagged my way through milking, fed the chickens, made Fran the duck hiss at me, and came inside and found a tick on me :sick :sick.

The kids just told me excitedly that there's only 10 DAYS of school left :th Wow. On one hand it will be nice because my morning will slow down tremendously. On the other...well, there's going to have to be some new rules established about how I'm not a maid or a personal chef. The adjustment period will be tough.
For them or you? :D

Thanks for taking one for the team this morning. No rain here.

sounds like you need the summer chores list! I used to make charts for the kids, who does what. That way there was less arguing and when I write it down I can see better who is having to do the yucky jobs the most and spread those around evenly. I don't give the kids the jobs I like to do either, if they can do it, they do! My kids have done the major dog poop removal for us for so long, it will be a shocker for Hubby and I when the last child leaves and we are left with the pooper scooper in our hand.

Yay pics! :ya

I love the pics :) all of your animals look great :thumbsup

I know what you mean about summer and kids, I look forward to it and then once it arrives I find myself wondering how the heck it snuck up on me and why is it so much more work? :barnie

My lovely son managed to get summer school because he was lazy and got a D in a class. Now I have to continue to drive him to and from school 1 hour round trip. I am not pleased.

:frow I'm here. Just felt a bit quiet this week. All the storms had me down. We got a couple more inches of rain this week. The lake is still out there and deeper than ever. I planted alot of seeds in an area I thought was safe and it turned out not to be. We got torrential rain one day and everything washed out. It's just a big depressing mess out there and it's nearly June.
BUT! The weather pattern is changing finally and we should :fl start drying out. But it's going to be screaming hot which I don't handle well at all (autoimmune symptom) So we'll see how it goes. I think I found a solution to the whole bummer situation which will work out - I'm not going to plant much, and the areas that I usually plant will get plowed, mulched, and prepared for fall and next spring.
That's about it. I'm going to be butchering the bigger meaties tomorrow before it gets too hot for them to live. mmm, chicken dinner for Memorial day. I think I will barbeque one. :drool

Well I'm glad you are okay. Have you made any more cheese?

We are sick of this rain too. My plants that are doing best are all planted on mounds. I'm making mounds for everything from now on. I had some seed get washed out too, and also some that just fed the local birds, not even my chickens! :he

That seemed to go pretty quick with the meaties!

SD - I've only made the lemon cheese and the chevre. I'm afraid to try one that needs alot of stirring or attention because I have a 4 year old who is very distracting :p

So we processed the 3 biggest meaties yesterday. Easy-peasy. I'm getting pretty good at it. Hubby kills, I do all the rest. I only had problems with the crops because hubby fed them right before. He wasn't thinking. We took out the roos and at 6 weeks old they dressed out at around 6 pounds each. Pretty good I think.

It's going to be in the 90s and humid today and tomorrow so I hope the rest of the meaties can handle it. Welcome to summer, Ohio. The rain has stopped and the heat is on :th

Wow, right from deluge to heat wave. We were supposed to have sun but I just see gray clouds.....

Yes, 4-year-olds can be distracting that is for sure. Too old to nap probably, too.....that is such a bummer when that little habit wears off.
