thinking about raising some creepies. :idunno

Seems like a great way to eat healthier.

Steriod chicken is just gross. I cringe when I buy chicken in the grocery store.

I think i might part out my chicken that I have defrosted and grill it. It is just too dang hot out today to put it in th oven, and I don't want to put it in the crock pot. But I have never parted out a chicken. guess there is a first time for everything. :p

Creepy meats are easy to raise, hillfarm. And delicious, you'll never want to buy chicken in the grocery store ever again.

That's alright you are also misinformed, no one uses steroids on chickens. they are just cross bred (no GMO) to grow fast and confined so they can't work any weifht off. Tasteless granted.

Ive been reading what everyone posts on here. I just dont know how far I can push kids and hubby. The whole slaughter in the back yard might freak them out a bit. But personally, wouldnt really stress me. I grew up around eating meat we raised. Rabbit, pig etc. And the whole skinning them sounds so much easier than plucking. Might have a sit down with the hubby and get his input.

Might be a good summer project.

what she said!

if YOU are calm, your kids will be too. most kids (that i've heard about) take it better than adults. the key is to not psych yourself out. a lot of us raise these creepy meats naturally, so they aren't as bad as the commercially raised ones. and you can get a breed called "Freedom Rangers" or "Red Broilers" that are more "chicken like" then these guys. once you do it you'll be sold out.

:)

We reaise our own meaties, but we send them away to be processed. tried it before, and we sucked at it. I do all my older birds, and cockerels, but the meaties are too young, and their sking rips easily. for us, we process all our own animals--deer, lamb, quail rabbit other birds etc, but for us to have a nice roasting bird, we send them to the processors.
