Nice chickens OFG  You are way nicer than me - I am NOT giving anyone a heat lamp. They are just going to have to shiver and get along. I swear these birds molt at the weirdest times.
Gaah, I see duck feathers too.

I'm done watching the goat babies for now. I started feeling panicky about the whole situation :p

thats hilarious... poor Fats. really i didnt recognize her at first. we have a couple black hens from this summer and Fats has been around for a while. she normally has a beautiful collar around her neck of golden feathers! i only recognized her by her comb.

Spike is a disaster and poor Angel has 4 feathers on her. if she wasnt one of the original chickens we got 5 years ago, who survived a vicious attack by the other chicks, and who also survived a prolapse (i gave her the last rites 3 or 4 times).. i would just send her to that big chicken dinner in the sky. but of course its the hens that i love.

sheesh! its like they do it on purpose. i think they just want snuggles.

;-)

I do not have one bird with any sense at all in this flock :p The ones I really likes passed on too early and the ones left are mean, nasty and fighting all the time. We are still getting 3-6 eggs a day though, so they have reprieve until the rest of the ducks start laying.
I can't wait to start over in spring. I feel the hatching bug coming on.

Incubators are cleaned...and waiting!! I TOO have the hatching itch! I already hatched out 7 silkies in December...for spring sales!
I think I will start early on the hatching this year, so the chicks are a little older, and will sell better. ;)

I think I want to hatch in February like I did last time. I just need to get some fertile eggs...I think I'm going to try Buckeyes and Australorps.
The new feed store is going to sell spring chicks, but it will be much later than I want them. I may pick up a few then but I prefer the early start.

LOL, I think we posted to each others journals at the same time. :D

Kids are in school, the roads are clear. We've gotten maybe 2-3 inches. I was expecting more by now so :idunno

We hit the 30 days left mark for the goats. Panic has not fully set in yet  Honestly I'm more worried about getting their horns done than the whole birth. I hope I can find someone close to coach me, but if not we will man up and do it by ourselves.

It's mostly whole wheat. I mess with the recipe every time I make it. And once I figure out where my daughter carried the recipe card off to, I'll post it here. I have looked all over the house for that card! It was on the countertop and then it was gone. Nowhere to be found!
Do you see it here anywhere?
