I wish I could have started such a venture when I was your age. But my life had taken a different turn. Different choices.

ooops procrastinating here
well not reeally i had to run a cpl errands in town and just came home to finish chores and grab dogs for another day at work
when........i just thought id check my email.....damn it!!!! you guys are addictive
i will note now that my s key really sucks so if something doesnt make sense add an s
i keep telling my friends that farming is my new addiction and i really i think it is
i have said for years that the farmer life was the one for me for i NEED to be busy from dawn till dusk or my wee ADD mind starts to bug out
and it seems to fit pretty damn well
today i did sleep in because i have not been sleepin well (not unsual) and i slept the sleep of the dead last night (well from 2 to 8:30) so i went with it i am usually up to let the chooks out at around 5, 5:30.
i am getting side tracked here though i will put in a proper journal entry tonight.
i just wanted to ay to farmfresh thanks for the kind words and that the more years i pass through the more i see that Every one has hard choices to make and ben through tough times
its a matter of how one deals with them that counts
and almost always the strongest people are the one whom have hurt the most.
i have always been a crazy hard worker (running my own businesses as well as having a fulltime job most of my life) i find that for me it really come down to a matter of pace
"slow down young man"
i am told that since i could talk i have always wanted to be like an old man and once was said of me "hes having a hard transition between angry youth and grumpy old man" at times thi has been very fitting
hmm what do i like to build i really like restoring really busted up things of beauty and almost anything around the house.
i am slowly building my set of hand tools and teaching myself to ba an all old school craftsman
as well as a one of the new directions my rental business is going into this fall is corperate furniture that i will manufacture here in my barn (i hope)
as for recipe as of rightnow i have no real kitchen and my garden is just starting to give me veggie other than swiss chard so as i start to cook more i will let yall know what i am cooking
i must say i keep it pretty simple most of the time salt pepper whatever's fresh
and those sealler will be used for many things drygoods storage, canning, and i saw that post some put up about lights and ithink i will make some of those too. i canprob sell in toronto for comprable pricing (i hope) it never ceases to amaze me what people will pay for what is really just an idea for with something like that they sure arent paying for the labour or the material (both of which are about nil )
alright already i really gotta go
i guess i have alot to say
this is great i have been unable to keep a steady journal since i started this venture even though i have been trying and this way i am encouraged to put in more info and get answers to my quetions
great
thanks for listening
as always

well modern pioneer i aint sellin nothin here so whatever
im gonna ignore that and keep goin on here
well i didnt acctually think i would get this done tonight but seeing as jack (the puppy) just decided it was time to wake me up i figured why not
so today well ya go the first half well quarter
eventually i did make it to work
right now i am converting old pig barns down the road into wharehousing for my rental business and a laundry facility too. so thats what i worked on till about 6 when me and the pooches headed home where i buggered with my garden cart some more till i got it working( knocked axles out of bike tires found new axle to replace too large one that cart was designed with etc.) i have wanted one of these style cart for awhile its one of those fancy "vermont carts"with a dump gate etc. so i am very happy i got for a total of $25 i didnt even have to buy anything to get it workin which i thought i would. right on
then patroled the gardens. one almost ripe cherry tomato after the great chicken raid of 2009 a cpl snowpeas worth eating (big harvest coming this weekend though) and not much else excitting my pepper plants are really starting to produce now just nothing big enough yet except my hot peppers. who started all these hot peppers anyhow. then the usual lettuce etc. to harvest though no swiss chard thanks to rotten chooks!!!
then i made a cpl bucket waterers that i had meaning to for a week or so for the chickens you know the kind with holes around the top for their little heads to go in (i sorta coppied a deign from byc that uses a toilet float for automatic refills) but left out the automation for now.
ahhh i can see now jack just wanted my blankets he has so happily now made a nest out of my bedding and fallen fast asleep. bugger!!
now back to the gardens for a cpl hrs of weeding which i have been neglecting as of late.
the weather today was all over the place when i woke up (8:30) late. it was clear and looking to be a scorcher by 3 when came home for lunch it was pouring rain for 2 hrs. which reminds me i got a great deal on a rain suit a canadian tire across the st. $30 (reg 60) for a safety orange suit, pants with braces and jacket both out of heavy duty materials and with lot of reflective tape too. but back to weather
by the time i got home 6:30 7ish it was clear blue skies again. the day finishing with "red skies at night a sailors delight"
so hopefully tom will be a nice one (i sure did need the rain today though)
and thats about it due to my lack of kitchen i had a salad and a bowl of cereal for dinner (see farm fresh im really not cooking these days) truth is i need to start kicking my a@! into eating better i really can feel my energy levels being effected by my poor eating habits as of late and there really is no excuse for ME to not eat well. the one i use is that i hate cooking for one
damn i just felt something crawling on my leg turns out it was an inch long beetle (jeese dont pick up sweat pants off the barn floor and put on without inspecting or shaking off!!!!) man i gotta move into the house soon! (not gonna happen)
well in gonna try to wrestle my bed back from the dogs here and catch some shut eye i hope so till tom.

It is really hard eating nutritious meals for one.

My daughter eats on her own most of the time as hubby is in the military and gone a lot. I am forever harping on her for some of the dishes she THROWS together. The four major food groups are NOT Ramen noodles, orange juice, Vienna sausages and cheese! :rant When he is home they always eat good nutritious meals. My BIL is in the same situation of eating alone as well.

Two things that will really help that situation are a small crockpot and a toaster oven. Since getting these things for my BIL it has really helped him eat better.

AND you have got to eat well to stay well. When your body gets down you get down mentally and we KNOW how dangerous that can be for some of us.

Work hard Jesse and eat RIGHT! When all of those veggies start hitting the table it should be easier!
