All this talk of beaches and ocean, I just had to tell this story we heard on Sunday from a friend of ours.

He has a beach house and his family was vacationing at it. He and his young daughter were wading in the water, it was probably only waist deep on him. They were laughing and having a good time and out of the corner of his eye he had seen a black trashbag floating along in the water. Didn't think anything of it, just figured someone's black trashbag had gotten away from them and flew into the water.

Well... The bag began to float in between his daughter and he, as it got in between them he actually concentrated and looked on it, it had that locomotion movement to it! His eyes bugged out of his head and he jumped back and walked on water heading back to the shore. Halfway back to the shore he remembered he left his kid! Who upon his lunging out of the water, realized what was going on! He ran back to her, grabbed her and they both got out of the water. A lady met him on the beach and asked "Is that what I thought it was!?!?" He said "Yeah! It was a shark!"

She yelled out to her group of teenagers in the water. "Get out of the water! We're done! That's the THIRD ONE TODAY!"

Dace., are those sharks??? Seriously??? *body slackens and slides off chair*

*shudders* omg ya'll are far braver than me!

:hide

The only time (and the last time I might add) I ever swam in salt water (not sure it counts as the ocean, it was the Gulf of Mexico at Gulf Shores Alabama) was when I was 9 years old and my daddy took me. I remember being soooo excited about being "in the ocean" and my daddy's friend said, "Wait until a shark bumps against her leg." :ep That was enough to freak me out to the point of not caring to ever step foot in ocean waters again!

That was 22 years ago, and I remember it like yesterday.

hmm...seems strange to me to be able to say something happened 22 years ago and I was old enough to remember what that was 22 years ago....................man i feel old suddenly!

Awww, shoot, Quail... I can't get used to the 80's supposedly being so long ago. And all my favorite music is from the late 70's; people are calling those songs OLDIES. What's up with that? :idunno

I love music from the 80's and wish I'd been a teen in the 80's

Quail, those sharks are harmless. They arrive by the droves in late summer and the turists love them. You actually swim with them that time of year. We always bring goggles so we can see real well!
I know it seems freaky but they are not biters and just cruise along the bottem near the sand.
