the good news about my garden is that the weeds are doing GREAT. UGH!!!!!!!

i know you'll be glad to be out there soon - its great to get everything back into shape.

Well, so much for laying around today. I went out and fed and watered the 6 chicken coops, the ducks, and the 2 turkey pens, and the pigeons. Oh, and thay have another baby! I am up to 4 pigeons now. :)
Then I went to the bard...fed and watered the goats and sheep...and threw hay to all of them. Thats when I noticed that both sides of the barn really needed cleaned. So, I started mucking it all out. Got it finished....and went to the house. Got my coffee...and it was 8 AM. :/ Drank my coffee...read some E mails... got a chicken breast out for dinner...then went to the garden to pull some carrotts for dinner as well....got it in the oven with taters...and was in the garden by 9 am. The weeds here are doing great! So, I started pulling weeds. I was able to fill 2 wagon loads for the goats. BIG pull behind the lawn tractor, wagon. I finished about 3 pm. Came in and got cleaned up, ran to town to get feed, and came home to put it away. I just finished. Whew!!!! Im tired already!! I NEED a break! So, here I sit..waiting on coffee to get done. After I get a cup of coffee, I will go gather eggs..close the coops and the barn...then come get a shower, and settle in for the night. Tomorrow, IF there is no rain...I will get the beets and peas planted. This weekend we are planning to get firewood. We need about 15 ricks to finish our wood for the season.
Oh, coffee is done...so I will be back later.

Oh yeah, free food for the goaties.! They loved it. I will have plenty for tomorrow as well. I was only able to get half the gardens done. So, if there is no rain, I will hopefully finish them tomorrow....so I can plant this weekend.

So, its already coming up on August. WOW! Where did this summer go? It wont be long untill the gardens are resting, and the animals are getting fat for winter. Yes, I said it....winter. With that in mind....this weekend we are going to try to get at LEAST 10 ricks of firewood put up. We have 5 left from last year, so another 10 will hopefully keep us for the winter. If we can get more done...we will. I think hubbys brother is coming over to help. That would be nice. Then I could get in the garden and get the peas planted...and beets. I know, I said I was going to get them in the other day...but...life happens. LOL Yesterday I pulled about 20 or so carrots from the garden. I would like to try to get them canned today. Most of them are smallish...so I am guessing maybe 4 to 6 pints. Hey, any is better than none...right?
Today I get to go get my check from working at MUTC. Woohoo! I can't waite to see the fruit of my "labors" LOL Just maybe I will be able to get the cattle pannels and T posts, and gates, for the next 2 paddocks. Then I will be able to rotate pastures. IF I can...im thinking ... dont tell hubby.........a cow! :D This would give me 4 lots fenced in. Of course...then I will have to build at least 2 more lean-to shelters. :/
Yesterday morning I had to run to town for a few groceries....and took the neighbor with me. She didnt have the gas and needed to go as well. While I was shopping, she was picking up a few things..hot dogs, top ramen, spaghetti...then she mentioned she only had 10 dollars to get 2 weeks of food. And, here I was loading my cart! :/ So, I told her to get 5 packs of meat and I would pay for them...( they have a 5 for $19.99 deal) While we were out, I met another friend, who asked if I knew anyone who wanted a pomeranian. I have 3, so NO WAY do I want another. However, my neighbor knew a friend who wanted one....so we swapped numbers so that I could go get the dog. Once we got home, the neighbor came over to help me worm the goats. Its been 2 months since I wormed them last..altho I havent seen anything in thier droppings.
While my neighbor was here, we started talking about dryers. Mine bit the dust. Figures! I dont use it much in the summer, only for underclothes...but since we have had so much rain...I really could have used it. Instead I waited for a "nice" day, and was able to get 5 loads finished. So, we were talking, and she told me a friend has a dryer, and she was sure he would let me have it for free. As we were talking, said friend just happened to drive by. We flagged him down, and sure enough, he gave me the dryer. :D This is the friend she was telling me that was looking for another pom. Sooooooo, we "traded" a dog for a dryer! :D He was so thrilled to have the little dog. He lost his other one a few months back, and was so lonely without it. He is a single guy...and just wanted a lap baby. Tess....the little pom, is just that!
I guess I better get out there and make sure there is plenty cool water for these animals. I just got the weather warning for my area... Heat advisory. UGH! Dare I say...im ready for fall? :hide

dontcha just love these little "Divine Appointments"?? dog for dryer and meat for worming help... wow! great work!

i almost had a thought about doing chores in a sweatshirt... fall... ahhahhh.. but then i remembered what a whiner i am about the cold. so i kept it in and remembered that i used to pay a lot of money to go to hawaii so i could be in the heat! so i pretended the trilling bugs were tropical sounds and my chickens milling about were schools of fish! ha!

i hear ya about your cow-wanting.. if only i could get some pasture.. little by little for sure.

i'm doing my planning for fall planting today. still a little under the weather so today (same heat advisories you have, i'm sure) isnt a good day for me to be out pushing my luck.

sending hugs!

OK, so hubby didnt get to the firewood. His brother came over, and the went to get the woog...that was a good start. Unfortunately, they couldnt get the woodsplitter. And, with the heat we had, there was no way they were going to split it by hand. ( I guess I can understand that) :/ After unloading the "logs" they ran to the shop. ( where there is a fridge with cold beer) and decided they would mull around in there for a while. While they were "busy" I had run into town to get my paycheck from MUTC. Now, im not bragging...but I was pretty darned excited to get mine!! $1,500 before taxes. :D I couldn't believe there were some people coming out and actually saying... " you can bet I wont do THAT again" What?? Are they crazy??? 9 days of "working" ( more like visiting and chatting, talking and walking) for $1,500. Oh yeah, I WILL do that again! Come on November!! :D
I decided to order pizza for dinner, since it was so hot, and I really didnt feel like cooking. Hubby wanted hot wings....so I ordered some of those too. We cant get delivery way out here, so we have to meet them halfway to town, in the school parking lot. They called, I left to go get it. Once I got it in the truck, the wonderfull smell of those hot wings was overwhelming, so I decided to sneak just one. OK, lets just say... "good idea, bad idea" The good idea was ordering them, the bad idea was sneaking one while driveing, and not haveing anything to drink!!! WOAH!! My mouth was on fire! I wont do THAT again! LOL
Today I plan to take it a little easy. Im heading out in a few to care fo rthe animals...and I hear they are calling for rain. I wish they would STOP calling for it, JEESH! ENOUGH!
I am going to pull a few weeds....well....ok...at least a wagon load, and try to get the rest of the beets, and peas planted, before lunch. After lunch...im taking it easy. LOL

you know, i dont see a whole lotta "takin it easy" with this! ha! you're like me - "not working" is really just doing something else. ha!

at least your pizza place will meet you halfway - we have a good 45 min round trip (at least!). i hear you on not cooking - it totally worked for us to do the roast in the morning.. had it for lunch... then had snickysnacks for supper.

i wish it would rain here - but i think its missing us.
:-(
