Heart of Gold you have! :)

wow a boy they think is a girl lol a wether doesn't have the same equip as a doe LOL it isn't farm animal ignorance it is them just not looking lol

feed that big hog well for the next days and yes you will have great meat in the freezer. A big hog is not a pet as we all know and ya just can't pawn him off on anyone yikes lol

anything soothing on the skin would be a relief for that pot belly I would think but honestly if she is "that" bad and older I would consider just putting her down that is alot of work to bring her back to any good condition if ya got the fight in you then go for it, but sometimes putting them down is the best decision

you sure got a handful on that visit from ur friend lol

I told Michelle the same thing about the PB female. She just wants to "give her a chance" I personally think she is suffering. Its really a shame. I Might just call the vet out to put her down, and tell Michelle she passed peacefully. That wouldn't be a lie....really. She would pass peacefully. :/ I just feel so bad for the pig....I hate to see anything suffer.

yea Just if you know the time is over and it is suffering then that would be a good thing to do make it easy for your friend and say just that but do you have to have a vet do it....see my hubby can put down anything that is suffering it might be easiest to do it and bury her fast

as much as we hunt and use animals for food etc etc we sure don't let anything suffer and the (for lack of a better word) crazier animal people want to save everything and give it a chance but sometimes it just can't happen....sad but it sure happens in life

You are such a blessing to those animals!! :hugs

I think the hog is a reward for you!! It was meant to be.

I have noticed a lot of animal adds around here lately. It is so sad that people have to give up their pets. But with the economy things are just so hard. It's a shame.

have a great Monday!!

I agree honey, she sounds like she's had a rough go of it....probably would be good to put her down.

Take that hog and run!

Take a picture of goat genitalia and give it to your "friend" for future reference....sounds like she needs a refresher course in the basics!!!

Bless your heart for what you do for all those animals.... :hugs

Could it be, that these people are not exactly that dumb, it's just that they want to pawn off animals on you? Or are they really that dumb? If so, they should probably look for a new line of work..

I agree about the little oinker. Off with her head. I was going to say, PB pig is perfectly edible too! But if she's over ten years old?? Again, off with her head and into the hole!

MR is probably right, she's probably been over-bred. They sell those PB piglets for like $300 here. My cousin had one, and it got HUGE. Not exactly butcher pig size, but way bigger than it 'should' have been. Again, pig is pig.

I talked to Michelle again today....I was filling the pool for Mr Bacon ( his new name) He has already made a wonderfully large mud hole in the corner of the pasture. :/ I did tell Michelle I have already made plans to feed him out and butcher. She agreed that he would be impossible to place...and that I should just " do what needs to be done" :D As for the PB. I went and bought some good but cheap cocoa butter lotion. It is fragrance and scent free....so it wont irritate her skin. I just want to give her some relief untill we decide when to " do the deed" My hubby wont do it.....I can't do it...so I will have to pay for a vet. DANG.
OH, and now for my "scare for the day" As I said earlier, Michelle also brought a chicken. I had to put it in a small ( 4x4 ) wire cage for the night. This morning I went out to fix the door on the empty coop, so I could let it in the coop. As I was finishing, I was banging pretty hard on the frame...a snake fell...RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!!!!!

Scared the bejeebers out of me!!! I knew it wasn't poisonous....but STILL!!!!!
So, now the new chicken is on a coop by itself....hopefully happy!! I will go out and check on it again in a few. Still hopeing its a hen, I think it is, no wattles...but its pretty rough looking hard to tell really yet.
OK, so I am off to get pics for my files, of the new animals. Back in a few!
