Glad you are doing better. I think we all need down time once in a while, it was really great that you realized it and took it.

Did you know that you can make a plant rooting concoction out of those willows as well? They say you can grind up a bit of willow in some water then soak other plant cuttings (like grape vines perhaps?) in the willow tea. It will promote root growth in the cuttings! :)

Hey FF, I didn't know that...thanks! Maybe I can make a tea, and use it for watering at planting time in the garden? Hmmmm.....sounds like an experiment coming on! :)
So today...my Pygmy goats are leaving to thier new home. :( I didn't really want to sell them, however...they don't really have a "job" here other than being cute as a bugs ear. The girls wont stand for milking...and the buck...well...P U ! I just can't get past that odor. :sick We really needed the money to repair the roof on the large chicken coop. It leaks something terrible! So, We will put the money towards new roofing. I have the Ram up for sale as well. This will put me down to just the 3 ewes...and the rescues PB pigs. Then I am going to concentrate on saveing for those miniature dexters I have been wanting. :D I found a breeder in Ohio, however he wants $1500 a pair! Maybe I can arrange for a farm visit there, and just go see what he has...maybe he has a few "pet quality" I can pick up cheaper. I have decided I am going to remanage my flocks as well. Downsizeing on the turkeys...right now I have 3 hens and 2 toms. One tom has to go...maybe a hen as well. The chickens...well..I am going to go to just one breed...Barred Rocks. I really like this breed..and they are great layers with good weight. Most of the banty chickens will go up for sale as well. I might keep a few...but really, they are just eye candy..and good brooders.
We will be moveing the Christmas stuff out today...I can't waite! I want it OUT of the garage! Then I can work on getting my kitchen set up in there. I already have everything I need, Sink, counters, cabinets, stove, fridge.... just need to get it all in place and hooked up. This project has been in the works for a few years...this year I am determined to get it finished!!
Time to get my lazy bum dressed and get outside. Now....where did I put my mojo?? I need to go find that first! LOL

Thanks Tanks. Once I get it finished...and I mean....WHEN I get it finished, I will be posting pics. It wont be fancy...or magazine worthy...but will be functional..and handy for canning and butchering. All the cabinets are the old metal ones...I just love them! The floor is concrete..........however I will have rubber mats. Easy to wash down and clean.

So...the ice storm has everyone around here FREAKING OUT!! :barnie You would think it was the second coming or something. Shelves are empty...gas stations had long lines...I mean...REALLY!??? I had to go in to town for hamburger buns...hubby wanted hamburgers for dinner. Picked up a few bags of feed...and dropped a 20 in the tank...(gas) and hurried home. It was C R A Z Y in town! I think thats the whole reason I really DONT like these storms....people panic. I am fairly sure we are ready for it....however hubby is at work, and wont get off untill 2 am. He might not be able to make it home..however he has the option to stay at our sons house in town. This means....I will be sleeping with my shotgun. :p IF I sleep at all. If we lose power, I will have to stay in the family room and keep the woodstove going. Food and water wise, we are ready. Animals are taken care of...plenty blankets, candles, hurricane lamps and fuel for them...I picked up some "comfort foods" when I was in town...ie: chocolate bars, chips, popcorn. As I sit here typing, I can hear the rain falling. So far...still rain. We still have power...so thats a plus..and the laptop is fully charged.;)
Stay safe and warm everyone in the path of this storm....prepare for the worst, hope for the best!
