So, it has been a little while, and altho I am not complete as of yet, I wanted to check in and let everyone know I am still walking amongst the living. :p Hubby and I are trying to spend more quality time together...and get our priorities straight. I have decided to sell the Pygmy goats. I have a family coming this Saturday to get them. I will be able to reroof the large coop with the money from the sale.
I have also decided to sell my Ram. I just can't keep up with his destruction any longer. I have replaced and repaired the fencing 3 or 4 times just this winter! So, he is up for grabs...breed or meat. If I can't sell him by spring, I will have him butchered myself. He is just way too agressive for me to handle and I can't risk getting hurt again, by him.
The rescues keep coming in. Pot Belly pigs are a fad...people get them then realise they are not cuddly little dogs...then they want to get rid of them. I have 2 little ones in the barn..and there are 3 more looking for a foster home. :/ Maybe it will be the " year of the pig"? Who knows.
We are currently haveing issues with the neighbors septic. Seems thier finger system is flowing into our pastures. I have had to close one pasture completely, and will probably have to close the other as well. I have called the property owner, and she said she will take care of it as soon as the weather permits. I will give her time...as I know they can't really do anything now...however...thier system is illegal...the tank is within 5 ft of our property line, and the fingers come ON our property. I will try to settle this friendly, however, if she is determined to be a ..well...you know..B**** like she has in the past...I WILL seek legal recourse.
So much is going on...I cant seem to get my head cleared long enough to rest. Come on Spring!!!
I hope all is well with everyone...I will return again...soon...I sure miss everyone.

:D Glad to hear from you!

A pasture that I boarded at had a similar neighbor problem, with a septic leaking constantly. I made a suggestion to the owners and they ended up listening and took the Green Solution to the problem. They planted several Willow trees and a Cottonwood in the soggy area. Some of them close to the property line where their roots would be sure to find those offending laterals and clog them full of roots!

I talked to hubby about that very thing. Planting the willows. We have PLENTY growing here on the property, around the pond area. The goats and sheep LOVE willows too! :) I will give her a chance to rectify the situation, then, if she doesn't...all bets are off!;)

That was the same tact my property owners took.

They tried their best to be nice about it, but were just met with hostility. The willow may take a year or two, but when those roots locate the source of the "sweet water" you had better bet they will be tapping in to the source!

Plus you get the added benefit of screening away the evil neighbors! :p
