:love :love Those little tractors are just so darn cute!!! DH grew up with 8N's and 9N's and one of the first topics of conversation that we covered when we were palling around was if I knew the difference between the two.

Glad you guys made it home safe and hope the brakes end up being okay on the truck.

Thanks everyone, I am super excited!! Of course it is cold and rainy today, so I can't go out and play on my tractor! :hit NO FAIR!! LOL
So I just came inside from helping hubby remove the drum from the truck....the brake drum. It was stuck on there pretty good, and the more we worked on it the lower our hopes were of not having to sink a lot of money into it. We were banging, and cussing... :rant FINALLY...it broke loose. Once we got it off...everything loos normal. Not a lot of brake dust...everything is attached....no ruts on the drum...and the pads look almost new! :hu So, we cleaned it up, and hubby is going to put it back on...and just see what happens. We were talking...and I asked if because it got so hot, on the hills...is it possible that the adjusting screw locked up? He agreed it could have happened. So, once he gets it back together, he is going to take it out for a drive..see what happens. Again, it seems we have been Blessed! Thank you Lord!!! We really do not have the finances to put into this truck right now. We are still trying to get the money together for propane...for winter. Glad we have a wood stove. :)
So, I separated the cream from one gallon of milk...from my Suzie....this is the cream I got...

Just over a half pint, from one gallon milk. It is THICK too! So, now I have just over a half gallon cream...almost butter time! :)
I am off to make some cheese....expecting company today, for a farm visit. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

So, since the weather has been just WONDERFUL lately...we have had the house opened. Well....with an open house, and high humidity...you guessed it, all the carpet smells came up. :sick So, yesterday, I spent most of the morning cleaning carpets. Whew! Wore me out!! However, they sure do look and SMELL better! :D
After hubby went to work, I spent the next few hours cleaning out the 3 duck houses...and adding clean bedding, whew...another stinky chore. The ducks are sure happy about it tho...and I will be happier with cleaner eggs! LOL As I sit here listening to the rain... I am trying to plan what to do today, I really need to get the barn cleaned out...and get that tractor put up. Right now it is sitting out under the willow tree...in the rain! :/ Nope, I can't have that! LOL I noticed a few persimmons on the ground yesterday...almost that time. :p I am craving persimmon cookies....yummmmmm. It has been such a weird year..I was surprised to see ANY persimmons on the trees. Of course, MY little tree is in the goat pen, and well...Suzie has decided she LOVES ripe persimmons. :rant I get the ones that fall on the roof...any on the ground is fair game..and she wins. LOL That's OK tho, my neighbor has 3 HUGH trees, like over 50 ft tall....and they have plenty hit the ground..and she HATES persimmons. The only part I don't like...they really draw in the bees. I will put on my battle gear, and fight the bees...just hope I win! LOL

Rain ahhhhh... I can only dream.

My neighbour has persimmion trees. They are the kind you eat crisp. Not the ones that have a pointy end and you use mush. Last year I tried to dehydrate chips. When done they kinda tasted like pumpkin. They didn't go over really well.

Maybe I will try a jam this year.

Enjoy your day.

Today was a slow lazy day for me. I think I really needed it. Between cleaning carpets, duck houses, and the barn..I was just dragging. Tomorrow...IF we don't get rain, I am planning to reorganize the barn so the tractor fits. I have 2 stalls on the North side, one that never gets used. I am planning to use it for hay storage. This should help with keeping the warmth in...I hope. Unfortunately, it will also cover a window...so it will be darker in there as well. UGH, I hate not having electric in the barn. The second stall is where my Suzie sleeps at night. For some reason, after the evening milking, she rushes in there...and refuses to go back out to her pasture. :hu She has a nice shelter out there, maybe she just want's the company of the sheep? I am also hoping to get the shelter/cabin winterized. I have several boards of veneer I wanted to put up inside, to help stop any snow from blowing in...and I still need to put a front wall on it. Where did the summer go?? :idunno I feel the crunch of winter setting in...and fast. The pantry is not as full as I would have liked it to be...however, I think we will be OK. I am planning to make a HUGH pot of stew for canning as soon as we get a cooler day. Since we lose power so often out here, I like to try to can as much meats/meals as possible. I really want to try mini meatloaf's. Wide mouth quarts should work fine. ( I have plenty of those) I really need to move all the Iris bulbs...there are way too many...time to thin em out. Maybe I will craigslist a few...hundred! LOL I also need to go dig up the persimmon saplings...I think there are 5 or 6 out there that need to be moved. Not sure what I will do with those...need to get them moved soon tho. I also want to move my Lilac bush. Jeesh, I need all this rain to STOP. Seeing it written down .... I realize I have so much to do, and I am running out of time. :barnie

Wood floors ARE great!! Especially with a house full of hairy dogs. I just turn on the ceiling fan, watch as all of the fur balls sale across the slick surface and then sweep out the corners. :gig
