It looks like I will be an internet at the library gal for a while! YIKES! And thanks to Ohio's recent budget cuts, our library is cutting hours! :hit
Our library, too!

I just emailed you.

Congrats on the house!! I'm excited about it, because Ernie and I wanted to bring the kids up that way to visit Paymatuning (however it's spelled!) and we'll still have friends up there to make the trip worthwhile!

Does this place allow chickens???

Pictures of you relaxing on your new front porch would be wonderful, when you get the chance! How is your daughter doing?

Just catching up today-all the changes going on in your life-wow!
I hope they are on top of DD's condition by now!

How funny about DSL prices-I just made an entry in the What Did You Do To Save Money thread about canceling DSL and they gave me Dial Up price to keep me.
I spent much time at the library on computers before buying my internet capable computer. On the one hand the 30 minute time limits are annoying but having use for free is terrific. I've read that the cafes are banning laptops now.

Excited about your move, that you are still close, DH has permanent job, and you received the guidance that you sought.

Thanks to all. Still haven't found out what is causing Kel's seizures, so continued prayers are very welcome! Still getting settled. Pics when available.

Pam, were you fishing? swimming? I think Pymatuning is a great place for relaxing! We will be even closer now than we were before....

Stopped at the Village Coffee House to check email after church and thought I'd stop by to drop a line.

This move has been awful - things going wrong, deadlines not met, etc. I am missing my pantry ingredients, which are all still in storage.

At first the landlord said chickens were okay. Now he is not thrilled with idea of chickens unless we remove all bedding weekly! (He means with trash removal.) Bees were okay before we moved in, but now he says he is anxious about the whole idea. Starting a garden for next year was okay before we moved in. I was planning on moving the compost from the old place to this one this week, so I could start raising the bed for spring. Now he is against building raised beds, and the land is too wet to have the garden in the ground. :barnie

We are on a month to month lease here, because this guy says he doesn't believe in year leases. At first we were kind of upset about that, as we were hoping to feel settled for a year. But now with all his "yes" now changing to "no"...... we are kind of relieved to be month to month. So we are still looking for a permanent place.

Kel from the landlords point of view, he really doesn't know what to expect from you as a renter.

Remember the place you looked at where the tentative landlord suggested that you keep you chickens with his daughters? Well there are LOTS of people that believe THAT is how chickens are kept. Overcrowding, stinky conditions and LOTS of flies!

With my city chickens I talk to people and all they can see (in their minds eye) is a chicken factory or some pitiful example of share cropper poultry house tilted crazily and stinking badly. When they actually SEE my chicken coop and visit my chickens they are AMAZED! Neighbors either really LIKE my chickens or just don't notice they are there!

I would just work on him real slow.

Show him how chickens SHOULD be kept. Maybe one reason the God led you here is that you are to do a little educating of your new landlord! If I was you I would ask him about moving PART of you flock back on a temporary basis. Sadly I would probably leave Sam as the LAST member of the flock to come home. Let those few first ladies back show him how nice a backyard flock can be.

Many people in our area "rent out" their bees for pollination. Maybe you can find an orchard owner nearby that will let you keep your bees there. It would help you both out and bees don't require daily care, so traveling a little distance should not poise much of a problem. If you have to wait for bees until you have your permanent home at least you will still have your hive supplies bought and can take the time for more study.

For the garden even if you can't build real raised beds you can still build hills! Double dig or at least hill up the beds in the garden and leave the pathways low to provide drainage. No "permanent" beds to scare the landlord!

You can do it kel! Just be patient with the un initiated!
