8/31/09 - Monday

The temperature was 43 this morning when I woke up, and our low last night was 42. We had really thick fog earlier, but it is starting to clear up. The forecast calls for 68 and sunny today and sunny and the mid-to-upper 70s for the rest of the week! I am hopeful! :D

Tomorrow is DH's day off, so I am hoping to get some baking done today....bread and some goodies for home and Christian Cafe.

I also want to get some recent pictures on here.

While I was visiting QA, she and E gave me a beautiful spider plant, which has a story in itself. I want to get a picture of it before I kill it. :) I only say that half in jest.... We haven't been here long enough for me to figure out a good spot for it.

When QA & E came to our place before E's back surgery, they stopped at a McD's on the way up. The McD's had a huge spider plant with tons of babies hanging off it, so they asked if they could have some of the babies. After they were given permission, they took some cuttings, which were planted after they got home from the hospital.

Now the plant they gave me is large, strong, and healthy; and it is starting to produce little spider plant babies too! It is a good analogy for E getting healthier and stronger too....;)

The best pic I could get of the double rainbow on Aug 20.... This view is from my new back porch.

Now you don't really think you'll kill it, do you???

It's actually several clippings that we potted into one pot, so there's more than one spider plant in your pot. I think we left there with about 20+ clippings and they were soooooooo tiny (the size of my pinky finger) when we brought them home. E planted them into the 3 pots you saw, and what you have is the end result.

Don't worry, if it'd been me potting them, I'd have killed them all

I will say that I won't *intentionally* kill it. :D I am just not sure yet where to put it here where it will have a good chance for survival. :)

How nie that they gave you that little memento. My mom is very good with indoor plants and always has several spider plants. I don't know what the deal is but I can not keep indoor plants healthy :barnie

Your weather sure sounds nice and cool...we are hot hot hot!

Dace, I used to be good with container and house plants. :) I sold most of them (except the veggies & herbs and my Christmas cactus) when we moved up from Texas. My Christmas cactus was 10 years old, but it died last winter. So we moved here with just one plant from the farm. Now, I have 2! :D

The propane stove top from my kitchen, now sitting on my patio table on the front porch. It looks like Mr. Fix-it took one burner when he took the oven portion away. I have to do something with this.I cant use my table while it is sitting here. I was thinking it would make a good outdoor propane stove or canning stoveif someone were inclined to fiddle with it. :p

The spider plant from QA & E on my front porch getting some sun. Isn't it pretty?!

I was canning apple pie filling today. I dont have my large canner here (it is in storage, naturally), so I am only able to can 2 quarts at a time.

I had a jar break in the canner during the first load. I was so careful to check them over for nicks, chips, and cracks, and to keep the jars hot while filling What a mess!
