12:30.... TR just got home from work. A great surprise, since he was supposed to work 8 hours today. Another 4 hours of pto off his saved hours. :/

We had salads for lunch. It is already 85 with heat index of 92.

We're off to have fun! Have a great day!

ETA: The Amish lumber guys left at 1:30. Can't say I blame them... hot and humid today.

Yesterday was just a pert near perfect day, if you happen to like 95 and almost 60% humidity. :p Last night Jon said the weather was the same in Austin. :)

We got some stuff done around the house and yard yesterday. Some of that consisted of picking up old roofing nails and some bits of shingle that had blown around during the past couple storms. We also found some broken glass in the front garden; which looks like it is from an attic window, that must have broken during the storm the other day.

We are hoping Paul comes to finish up the roofing jobs this week before the rain comes back. The area around our back porch is filled with containers of the old roofing material. And we are way past ready for it to be gone.

We had BLT's for dinner last night. Then we finished up the evening with cooling showers and a couple of cold ones while sitting under the grand old maple in the yard. :D

We cut up the rest of the strawberries for shortcake for dessert. I put one sponge cake in the freezer for another time.

Yesterday TR brought home the work schedule for the next four weeks. It is just a mess; and the boss is already up to revision 5. :th

This morning TR is working. I'm hanging laundry. The Amish guys are working the back 35.

Today TR has a Patient Experience Satisfaction forum lunch meeting, so he gets a free lunch today. He is glad to be back on the team. He missed two meetings while working modified second.

Tonight he has a Disciples Bible study. Next week will be the last class - 36 weeks study will be done. That class will be a Love Feast with the last class lesson and video, foot washing, a meal, and then communion. The meal is pot-luck, one item brought by each student. TR still hasn't decided what he wants to take; at first he thought a dessert, but Marion said she is bringing Texas Sheet Cake.

The recent church newsletter has listed a number of things going on this summer.

---For the first time in years, our church has a softball team this summer! :D Our first game is tonight vs Geneva First United Methodist Church. TR and I are not playing, but we may go watch the game at 6:15.

---In June/July, Neil is starting a new 3-session summer Bible study called What in the World which is how to look at events in the world with a Christian perspective. Neil has asked that people sign up if interested, so he can determine whether his current classroom will hold everyone interested, or if he will have to move it to a larger room. TR and I have signed up for this class. However, TR may not be able to attend one or two classes now because of work.

---On Saturday, June 4th the Confirmation class will be baptized by Pastor Meredith in Lake Erie. Anyone can join in this baptismal ceremony. This annual event concludes with a pot-luck picnic at Lakeshore Park. TR would like to help with this, but his work schedule will decide whether he can or not.

---Children's Vacation Bible School runs July 25 through July 29 this year. The theme this year is Shake it Up - Where Kids Carry Out God's Recipe. Sounds perfect for me, so I think I am going to sign up to be the snack coordinator. ;)

---To raise money for a mission trip in 2012 to Uganda, our church is hosting a MULTI-MARKET FOR MISSIONS, which will be held for 3 Saturdays on July 2nd, August 13th, and September 24th, from 9:30am to 3:00pm at Jefferson United Methodist Church in Jefferson, OH. Vendors can pick just 1, 2, or all 3 dates to participate. .

With the exception of food vendors, anyone who has items to sell (Crafters/Vendors/Flea Market) can get a spot for $10, or for $15 a spot with a table.

It is my understanding the the missions team will be selling food, although I am not sure what that will be yet. The money raised will be used for the January/February 2012 trip to Uganda to work with Active Blessing in helping abandoned children. This ministry was started by one of our church members. www.activeblessing.com

Meanwhile, quilt work has been slow, and with only 151 days left until the big date, I need to get a move on !!

I saw that! Good job. It sooooo doesn't go with the "I'm so over chickens!" line that I am going to tease you about for the rest of your life!

Did you get the beek assoc guy to show up yet to check the hive? Or are you going to do that?

It would be interersting to know if the girls are building on the inner cover because the 10 frames in the lower deep hive body are fully drawn out. Because that would mean you got some kick butt workers! :thumbsup

If that isn't the case, you might be able to put the lower deep hive body and frames on top of the lower box - bees move up in the colony - and then they would start filling the frames.

ETA: let me know what prices you are looking at for jacket/veil. Maybe we can cut a deal. ;)

Just random thoughts............

Sounds fun! They do our VBS evening hours during the week. With a full day of work and all my summertime home chores, I just don't have the energy to help with VBS. It just becomes a major guilt trip for me. I feel like I should help with the shorthanded staff and see that the kids have a great time, but I can't enjoy it at all. So far I've said "no," but we'll see if I don't get roped in. :/

Becca, our VBS is 9am to noon for 1 week. Most of the teachers and helpers are SAH Moms or Dads whose children will be attending the classes. Or they are not employed full-time (like me) or retired.

I admit that I haven't taught or helped with any VBS program since my children were young; and mostly because of my more-than-full-time work schedule.

In the five years we've been at this church, we have donated items for the crafts or snacks or some money to help defray costs for either. I haven't decided whether or not I am volunteering this year. I'm praying about it.

The veil/jacket combo we're looking at is $49.95 plus $10.95 shipping in Dadant - and it looks alot like your jacket/veil. $60.90 total for one suit. We didn't think that as a bad price.

And, I talked to Dadant this morning, they said they try to ship fairly quickly so that orders arrive within 2-3 business days. :D

edited to add: I called the Ky branch, since they are the closest one to us because I reasoned shipping might be cheaper from closer and the suit is cotton/poly.

That is not a bad price, and less than I paid for my inspector jacket and clear vue hat/veil from Dadant 4 years ago!

yea, E said he thinks that was less than what you said yours was.

The most expensive suit they have in there - and this one includes pants - is $83.95

Their prices must have come down since you bought yours  (sorry!)

and then I'm looking at their 8 Frame Garden hive kit..............

I think I have a new addiction..........................

Oh and, E's wanting to get himself a suit, too!!! He's so into it now!

There are a couple places where you can get a suit that they say provides more ventilation than the "old standbys", but I think some of them are more expensive as well.

If you are looking at 8-frame garden hive, we need to talk....
