Don't Quote Me
Okey dokey, gotcha! I've tried the journal thing, too. No one thing has been consistent. I don't get them every menstral cycle, just sometimes. Or not even near time. But, I know when I'm getting one. They always start the same way and always behind my right eye. I've had MRIs and don't need glasses. That's really the only meds I take, except for birth control. DH doesn't want any windows left open.keljonma said:I guess I should have been more clear, punkin. I try to avoid prescription medicines. I dont have a problem with people taking drugs, which is what I was trying to point out by using my sister Lisa as an example. She truly needs drugs to live. I know I may possibly need them sometime in my future, but I am purposely putting that off. My father was over-medicated and the medical team admitted that caused the Alzheimers. So me, I try to avoid what I can, while I can..punkin said:I don't do drugs either, but I do take prescription medication. For me, if there is something I can do safely for pain releif, I'm going to do it. I may have to take one every 6 weeks or so. I don't know my triggers, so I don't know what to avoid. I think they are mostly menstral and there's nothing I can do about that, yet.
For the menstrual thing, I can relate. Been There, Done That, Got The T-Shirt, as they say.
If you havent already, I would suggest you start keeping an every day journal - time you woke, what you did, ate, drank, times you ate or drank, how feeling - bloated, weepy, fine, sore, tired, cranky, days of cycle, write about the flow. Make sure you date each days page. All the silly stuff
The doctors in my case, were totally focused on it must be a food trigger. A normal food journal did not help change the docs mind. So I bought one of those black & white composition tablets for under $1 and wrote down everything. [Up at 4:30, shower, drank 1 cup black coffee, had wheat toast with honey, brushed teeth, drank half cup water. Feeling fine; period stopped yesterday. Drove to work; usual twits on the beltway made me cranky. Okay again after I get into routine at desk. 1 cup black coffee at 9. Meeting till lunch, drank water. Lunch is mixed greens, feta cheese, Newmans own Caesar dressing, water. Went to the bathroom, brushed teeth, drank half cup of water.]
You get the drift. After six months, the doctors finally ruled out food triggers and determined that my migraines were triggered during ovulation due to fluctuating hormones. At the time, my only option was a daily pill. After I found the magnets worked for me, I never brought up the subject again with the doctor.
