Thanks, everyone. Her wounds are far worse than I initially thought -- serious damage to her chest and leg, along with the head wound. But somehow she is more alert now than she was this morning, and the swelling in her face is going down. I got a veterinary spray for the wounds. I don't know if she will make it, but we have done our best to make her as comfortable as we can. It seems she doesn't want to lay down; she only wants to stand and lean on the edge of something to take the weight off. Poor chicky.

The rest are fidgety and flighty and nervous, but not injured as best as I can tell. And they are locked up tight for the night!

Is she eating and drinking?

Try giving here some hard boiled egg yolks, yogurt or moistened dog or cat food.

If she is still eating and drinking there is good hope of full recovery. Chickens are amazing healers.

No, I don't think she's eating or drinking. She will take water in if I drip it on her beak, but she's not interested if I put water in front of her. I gave her some scrambled egg and grapes this morning--two things she normally loves--and she wasn't interested in those either.

Just still being alive is a good sign for right now. Well, that is if she does not seem to be getting worse. Keep trying. With a name like Sue Flay she just has to be ok.

She is hanging in there; she actually laid an egg today! She walked around a little, took some water from a dropper, and ate a little bit of scrambled egg. Her wounds are drying out and looking like they are starting to heal; I have been spraying them heavily with veterinary antibiotic spray, and so far I don't see signs of infection. If she survives she still has a long way to go, but the fact that she doesn't seem to be getting worse is so heartening.

Thank you all so much for your encouragement and nice stories about your chickens. You all have given me hope in a dark moment, and I appreciate it more than I can express. :hugs :hugs :hugs
