Well that pig of mine stinks to high heaven, poops (big stinky :sick poops) where he eats and also where everyone else eats, gets into everything, is an escape artist and a yard ruiner...and those are just his good qualities. So fairy dust it aint, more like troll goo.

I'm thinking he may go to freezer camp early. :D
I can help you with that little problem. Simply PM me your address and I will ship you a generous gift card to the restaurant of your choice. When you return from dinner, your problem will be gone.
:D :D :D

I'm not a hunter (yet) - but common sense dictates that if I don't have a CLEAR shot, I will not take the shot. Here in Arizona, it is illegal to shoot into brush, tall grass, trees, etc... Since nobody got hurt, I guess the end justifies the means. Alls well that ends well, right? :)

Edited for spelling
My thoughts too. While the pig was doing damage, some people just shouldn't have guns. It should only EVER take one bullet, esp for a 70lb pig. That sounded like a massacre, but yet she still openly posted it, and took the massacred pig to the butcher. :idunno

BBH, when I was a child a piglet ran away to our house. The local conference center had bought a bunch of baby animals to put in a 'Nativity Petting Zoo' and apparently didn't think about how inappropriate a pig would have been. The pig escaped, and by the time we connected where it had come from, they had realized their mistake and didn't want her back.

Anyway, 'our' pig lived in an outdoor dog house and ate dog food and scraps. She was a tiny little potbelly, and my mom ended up taking her to a pet pig rescue group, She was really sweet and I would feed her grapes and fruit and she would stand around to get scratched.

Because she was so great (for the week she was with us) I had thought off and on about raising a pig for meat, but after I read "Farm City " and "the good good Pig" I decided that pigs are not for me. :/

Good luck with yours!

Wow, who knew pigs were so troublesome?! I never would have guessed.

BTW....I think the massacred pig only wieghed in at 35#....at least that is the way I read it!

She clarified later that it was 35# after the head and feet were removed.

Now I think I understand why there are some people who raise up a pig or two to see what it is like and then decide never to do it again. LOL

If a regular pig sounds like too much trouble, just get a feathered pig....

I think 35# was what actually made it to the butcher - she said they cut the head and maybe the hoofs off before they took it there.

Our pig is the 4th we've raised and the 1st that has been even an ounce of trouble. The very first one was wonderful - she was clean, used one corner of her pen to store her fertilizer, one corner for mud to keep her cool, and one corner to eat. She wasn't overly friendly but she was easy to handle. I don't know why we haven't gone back to buy another from the same grower, but for the next one, that's what we will do. The second 2 we grew were okay, they were just more than twice as messy. We grew one for my in-laws and one for ourselves - they had eachother for company and didn't have much use for us human folk. This 4th one is a whole 'nother story.:he

The t-shirt should read, "I hate my pigs!" on the front and, "Pork Fat Rules!" on the back!
There we go! :yuckyuck

"I Hate My Pigs"
"Pass the Lard"
"Kosher Ham in My Yard"
 That has a very Seuss-like rhythm to it, Quail!
