It is truly amazing how much your family has accomplished and how quickly it is happening. I know you will be in in no time.

Congrats on the fruit trees, I also love the pink lady apples.

A five gallon bucket has so many uses.

I can't wait to see the kitchen cabinets. The fresh coat of pant will surly freshen and brighten things up. We used a product called Flow Trol when spraying our interior doors. It helps the paint "flow" for a smoother finish when spraying. You might want to see if your friend knows about it.

Have a great day.

Monday

Okay, I'm a day late but today I am declaring a "day of rest".... :p

I got the cabinet surrounds and island in the kitchen done yesterday and hubby and friend have about 2-3 hours more work and the laminate is done. We also finished up the kid's rooms so the paint is done in there. My mother showed up yesterday even though we told her not to come up this weekend and had a hissy fit about the fireplace and carpet in the kid's rooms. We are replacing both and apparantly she can live with pee stained carpet and ugly poorly done fireplace (the stone fell off and the mortar was 2 different colors) but I can't. I can justify spending 5-600 dollars on new carpet for my kids. I know what the dogs did to that carpet over the years and I just don't want my kids rolling around on it. Am I wrong???

On a lighter note, my friend's DD and DS got to see and subsequently fall in, our pond

We had to remove 2 small leeches and hose everybody down at the neighbor's house.....they smelled awful :sick

Today I am doing nothing....I filled up the baby pool this morning so the kids can take a dip this afternoon when the water warms up. I'm exhausted.

Your house... your money... someone needs to leave you alone!

I agree nasty carpet HAS to go! Nothing is more stinky and germy than that. You are especially right to do it in the kids room. Normal kids spend a whole lot of time down on the floor playing. Better NOT to play in old animal mess.

You all have been working so hard it is amazing. You are even making me tired and I am just reading about it! You sure do deserve a day (or two) to take it a bit easier. Enjoy.

Oh good grief....its your house now. Not for her to have a hissy fit about the carpet. Its not healthy for anyone, with the underlying odors, the crustiness of the carpet fibers, the residual of the pee in the pad...I could go on and on....

You definitely deserve a day of rest Lori, enjoy it.

Why does your Mom have such problems with you fixing up Granny's old place. Sounds like shes miffed about something. Was it ever supposed to be hers? I am sure once you are in and it is all done and over with she will ease up a bit. At least I hope so.

Stinky leech covered kids, oh how fun!!! I bet they wont do that again.

You do need to take a day off - get some rest and recharge. I'm sure your Mom will be fine once you are finished working on the house and get moved in.

Well, my granny and papa bought it but my parents helped put money into the deck and the rent for the lot. So, even though the house was technically granny's she still sees it as partially hers. She is also ticked off that we are pulling out carpet that she saw as perfectly good and she thought the hideous fireplace was beautiful and is really good and ticked off that we ripped that sucker down.

Bottom line is that she has no control over the situation. She has always been and always will be a control freak. It has always been easier to just do what she wants and not fight about it. Now that we are challenging her authority she feels anxious and out of place. Not that that is an excuse.

She single handedly decorated the trailer and granny's new house and granny just let her do it. She picked out fixtures and paint colors and tile and flooring and of course she has the most expensive taste ever. Granny's new house went from $300,000 to $500,000 real quick. She wants to do everything her way and she has a way of making you feel guilty about not agreeing with her. Her famous line is "well, if was me, I would do (fill in the blank) this way"

when she and I do a quilt together it is a wonder that we don't murder each other. She loves embellishments and girly froo froo stuff and I am just the opposite. I am plain jane and she is fancy nancy. She bought me make up when I was like, 11 and when I wouldn't wear it she got so pissed. I hated dresses (still do) and had all kinds of clothes that she bought me that I hated in my closet with tags still on them. Really drove her crazy.

Theres a reason my brother drank and did drugs during high school.

Wednesday

Well, got to go to the bank this morning to get some paperwork notorized and then I'm off to see if my cabinets are okay. Hubby left them all on the porch last night and it rained :he They were under the roofed part but hopefully no damage was done.....I accidentally left the lawnmower out last night too so as I see it we're even :p

The lower cabinets should be done and all I have to do is get the little sticky tabs to put on the inside so that they don't touch the surrounds and stick together. I started sanding the uppers yesterday and just ran out of steam...then had to go to the grocery store and restock everything. The cupboards were bare.

The floor is almost done, we are rethinking the kid's flooring now and are considering going back to get more of the laminate and just go ahead and do the kid's rooms too. Hubby is pretty confident in his ability to get it down now that he has 2 rooms under his belt.

Supposed to rain more today and hopefully it will hold off until this evening. We got all the trees planted but still need to get the blueberries in the ground....ugh. BIL came over to inspect the trees and almost mowed down the blueberries, kinda glad they were in the pots still. He's so nosey. :duc
